The Electromechanical Assembler requires a high degree of problem-solving ability, ability to assemble complex and precision electrical and mechanical assemblies and complicated mechanisms to build a quality product. The machinery has critical dimensional specifications and operating relationships where fitting of components, calibration of operating units, alignment and/or balancing of completed assemblies requires the application of skilled mechanical and electrical principles and a broad knowledge of assembly techniques. The Electromechanical Assembler assists with final inspection and testing of machinery to ensure equipment meets performance standards and requirements. Overview Electromechanical Assembly of complex electrical and mechanical units where a high degree of problem-solving and extreme care, skilled workmanship, and accuracy are required to meet strict inspection, testing and operating specifications Position, erect, align, level; position sub-assemblies, units, and separates components and integrate their operations; performs fitting, aligning, timing, calibrating, and other operations incidental to the electrical and mechanical assembly of the machine. Essential duties and responsibilities Routes, wires, assembles, and installs electrical and electronic components in cabinets, electronics enclosures and on assembled machines to complete functionality of integrated components according to specifications. Ability to read and follow work instructions and procedures Read and interpret engineering prints/specifications, electrical schematics, manufacturing manuals, and/or verbal/written instructions to determine necessary assembly of machine Reads and interprets work orders, schematics, and specifications to determine established electrical assembly methods. Cuts wire to specified lengths, using wire cutters. Cuts plastic sleeves and slips sleeves over wire ends to insulate connections. Crimps terminal eyelets and lugs to wire ends, using hand or machine crimping devices. Routes, combs, twists, wraps, ties, and attaches wire to terminal points, according to layout, using soldering gun and hand tools. Connects wiring to accessories, such as relays, circuit breakers, plugs, condensers, switches, and installs accessory assemblies in electrical or electronic units, using soldering gun and hand tools. Conducts functional and continuity tests of electrical assemblies, components, wire harness, and plugs, using ohmmeter, test lights, and other electrical testing instruments. High attention to detail and self-motivation skills Identify problems and communicate issues to supervisor or engineering department. Inspect product per engineering specification to ensure proper assembly. Utilize handheld tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, drill guns, crimpers, etc. Use a variety of precision measuring and gauging instruments e.g. scale, calipers, etc., to inspect and verify conformance of parts to specifications/tolerances Perform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards Rework and/or repair assembled equipment and products according to engineering specification changes Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures Maintain a clean and safe work area High attention to detail and self-motivation skills Maintain process cycle time to keep pace with established standards Performs basic data entry to update status of job orders. Completes all required documentation and reports labor accurately and on a timely basis. Understands and complies with safety guidelines, quality system procedures and housekeeping standards. Requirements 5 – 7 years of related experience preferred. Experience with centerless grinding/electrochemical grinding a plus. Highschool Diploma or equivalent required, technical school experience preferred. Physical demands and abilities Basic reading skills.
