THE POSITION

The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Repairman 2 to join our team at the Pennsylvania Soldiers' and Sailors' Home. In this role, you will carry out a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks focused on the repair and upkeep of buildings, grounds, machinery, and equipment. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will handle a variety of tasks in the electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting, and masonry trades. Your responsibilities will include both rough and finished carpentry, prepping and painting interior and exterior surfaces, and installing or repairing fixtures like sinks and faucets. You will also be involved in installing and replacing electrical panels, circuits, and lighting, as well as repairing HVAC systems. Other duties will include snow removal and concrete or masonry repairs. You will also regularly use and maintain both manual and power tools associated with these trades.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 7.5 hours per day, 37.5 hours per week

  • Work hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Wednesday - Sunday, with a 30-minute lunch. You will have Monday and Tuesday as your days off.

  • Travel and overtime: As needed

  • May change based on operational needs.

  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or

  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades;or

  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

    S pecial Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

    Additional Requirement:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

    Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.

  • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
