Summary:
The Business Intelligence (BI) Developer is responsible for providing data and analytics support to facilitate PennDnA decision-making, operational efficiency, and research initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analysis, database development, and BI tools, with a passion for leveraging data to drive insights and improvements. The BI Developer will report to the Senior Manager of Reporting and BI.
Responsibilities:
Report Development & Visualization: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather business requirements for BI solutions, including reports, dashboards, and data visualizations. Build interactive reports and dashboards using tools such as SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Visual Studio, Epic EMR Reporting, Power BI and/or Tableau incorporating user-friendly features and functionalities.
Data Modeling and Extraction: Design and develop data models and SQL queries to extract and manipulate data from disparate sources.
Performance Tuning: Optimize SQL queries, data retrieval processes, and report rendering to improve the speed and efficiency of PennDnA’s BI solutions and ensure optimal performance for end-users.
Quality Assurance: Conduct testing and validation of PennDnA’s BI solutions to ensure accuracy, reliability, and consistency of data and reports.
Documentation and Training: Document technical specifications, data models, and report designs to facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure transparency in BI development processes. Provide training and support to team members on BI tools, features, and functionalities to empower them to leverage data insights effectively.
Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and develop solutions that meet organizational needs.
Data Standards and Governance: Collaborate with data governance committees to establish and enforce BI standards, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of reports and underlying data models. Contribute to defining and maintaining sources of truth for critical metrics.
Data Security and Privacy: Ensure the confidentiality and security of data by complying with security and privacy measures. Adhere to HIPAA regulations and safeguard Protected Health Information (PHI) throughout the BI development lifecycle.
Continuous Improvement: Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development. Look for opportunities to optimize BI solution processes and workflows.
Credentials:
- Epic Certifications (preferred)
Education or Equivalent Experience:
Bachelor of Arts or Science Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field Equivalent Experience (Required)
And 2+ years Experience with business intelligence and data warehouse solutions, and knowledge of best practices. (Required)
Proven track record of managing and executing projects with minimal oversight. (Required)
