Accountabilties:
Performs preliminary ophthalmic work such as obtaining medical and ocular histories, obtaining pressures, medication reconciliation, completing an external exam.
Performs automated and manual testing such as auto refractions, auto keratometry, corneal topography, fundus photos, ocular coherence tomography, pachymetry, tonometry, and visual fields.
Administers topical eye drops and ointments upon written physician order or written protocol.
Assists with minor surgery procedures, intraocular injections, and laser treatments in exam/treatment rooms including prepping patients for sterile procedures.
Reviews patients charts prior to physician exam to anticipate procedures and supplies or equipment that may be needed.
Prepares instruments for sterilization.
Other additional duties as required.
Education - Required
High School Diploma/GED
Prior clinical experience in an ophthalmic practice for at least one year
Proficiency with EMR/PM system(s)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Experience -Preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Individual must be patient centered and employee focused, must have demonstrated the ability to multi-task
