Kforce's client, a growing technology SaaS company in Phoenix, AZ, is seeking a Remote Director of AWS CloudOps and DevOps Engineering. We are working directly with the Hiring Manager on this exclusive and confidential search. This company offers a competitive compensation package including base salary, annual bonus and PreIPO stock. This position is 100% remote. The Director of AWS CloudOps & DevOps Engineering will lead cloud AWS engineering Devops team for the company's SaaS platform. They will also provide hands-on architecture to drive team. Responsibilities:
Manage a team of 4 engineers, set strategy direction/architecture, guide team for best practices
Will build and deliver highly available, scalable, secure, and efficient operations capabilities
Ensures the platform backbone of our solutions consistently exceeds the expectations of our customers for availability and performance while also partnering with feature delivery teams to provide a productive delivery platform blending best practices from CloudOps and DevOps competencies
Define, implement architectural and operational patterns and practices that support our organizational, product and technology objectives
Build, manage, and improve cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
Grow, scale, and optimize Postgres databases hosted in AWS
Advise and support data analytics engineering on solutions and improvements for the implementation and execution of data workloads
Build observability, uptime, and readiness metrics to detect problems and maintain our SLAs with our customers
Deliver improvements that eliminate downtime incidents and drive continuous improvement
Drive security improvements by maintaining common security tooling and services such as secrets managers, intrusion detection, security information and event management, and web application firewalls
5 years of experience working with SQL databases such as Postgres, MySQL, MariaDB, etc.
5 years of working experience executing large scale deployments on a broad array of services within AWS cloud (EC2, RDS, DocumentDB, DynamoDB, Aurora, DMS, ECS, EKS, S3, Athena, Kinesis, MSK, CloudFront, etc.)
3-5 years of experience leading CloudOps and DevOps capabilities within a globally distributed SaaS organization
3 years working experience building and running containerized workloads with Kubernetes (specific experience with EKS advantageous)
2 years working experience with Terraform, Terragrunt, AWS CDK, or similar tools
2 years working experience with implementing, maintaining CICD Pipelines using tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Spinnaker, FluxCD, etc.
Strong experience as a hands-on manager or director leading and managing teams
Experience with Git, GitHub Actions, and GitOps workflows
Strong programming language skills with bash/zsh shell and at least one of Node/JavaScript, Go, or Java
Practical experience running with security requirements (e.g., SOC2, GDPR) applied to workloads in cloud environments
You've internalized the shared responsibility model
Collaboration with team members and striving for continuous improvement
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
