Responsibilities

Under limited direction assumes a lead role in the support, or coordination of support, for systems or modules across multiple clinical and/or business functions. Demonstrates understanding of the impact information technology has on business environment. Manages multiple competing objectives and communicates complex technical information in clear and unambiguous terms to management and the business units. Provides analysis and support for installed systems, as well as system implementation and integration projects, which require systems analysis, design, testing and implementation for specific modules or applications. Makes judgments and takes any reasonable action required to accomplish agreed-to project objectives. Resolves complex problems and/or coordinates the resolution and communication to stakeholders, proponents, or across the organization. May direct the activities of System Analysts. Performs additional job related functions as detailed by immediate supervisor.

Department of Radiation Oncology, Mayo Clinic AZ, is searching for an Information Technology (IT) Project Analyst to join our expanding practice. We are searching for a well-rounded, disciplined, and versatile IT Project Analyst who can support Radiation Oncology IT systems or modules across multiple clinical and/or business functions. The successful candidate will work with commercial vendors, stakeholders within the department, and Mayo Clinic business units to maintain/enhance installed IT systems and implement new systems in a timely and efficient manner. New implementations and upgrades of existing systems require systems analysis, implementation design, testing prior to release and iterative improvements post deployment that prioritize the continuity of patient care. The ability to clearly communicate complex IT issues to non-experts is paramount as is the ability to identify and communicate tradeoffs associated with choices of architecture or implementation. A mindset of prioritizing the continuity and quality of patient care is essential to the success in this position.

The department consists of two clinics delivering radiation therapy using proton and photon beams. The primary clinical management system in the department is Aria/Eclipse v15.6 (Varian,Inc) which is interfaced with Hitachi Treatment Management System in the proton clinic (Hitachi,Ltd) and the Mayo Clinic Electronic Medical Record system (Epic). Long term support contracts ensure timely upgrades and maintenance of all major applications by the vendors. The main information and treatment management systems are complemented by numerous software applications from multiple vendors which enhance patient safety and aid in the management of workflows. Most IT systems in the department are critically important to daily operations.

The IT support of department operations consists of two IT Project Analysts located in Arizona who are remotely supported by a larger team located on the main campus of Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. On Site Representative from Varian,Inc complements the IT support team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline with a minimum of five years’ relevant experience.

  • Master's degree in a relevant technical discipline preferred.

  • Demonstrated expertise in the principles of systems analysis concepts, methodologies, tools, standards and procedures, and product level analysis.

  • Demonstrated experience with design and integration of new, upgrade, and replacement systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to define and resolve problems and manage projects.

  • Demonstrated oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Additional Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology preferred

  • Excellent communication, organization, problem solving and facilitation skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including conflict resolution.

  • Demonstrated history of continuing education in information technology and implementation processes.

  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Windows and Server products, Windows SQL Server databases, computing networking concepts.

  • Experience working with XenApp Server and Citrix Technologies.

  • Experience working in healthcare technology is a definite plus, as is experience in project management.

  • Prior exposure to DICOM and/or HL7 protocols very helpful but not required.

  • Advanced degree would be welcome but is not required.
