Job Title: Mechanical EngineerJob Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating new designs and modifying existing products based on specifications from engineering, customers, and the sales department. This role involves acting as the technical point of contact for both national and international customers, providing engineering design support, and ensuring that all designs meet commercial and military specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Create new designs and modify existing products based on specifications from engineering, customers, and the sales department.

  • Serve as the technical point of contact for national (commercial/government) and international customers.

  • Provide engineering design support to generate preliminary design concepts, associated technical descriptions, nonrecurring/recurring cost estimates, and task scheduling for program proposals.

  • Interpret, select, and apply commercial/military specifications and customer requirements to hardware and processes to accomplish specific design requirements.

  • Supply hands-on engineering support for component fabrication and assembly of prototype, testing, and production hardware to resolve design, manufacturing, assembly, quality, and performance issues.

  • Advise engineering of any problems that arise during execution of design that might impair schedules or technical quality of end item.

  • Review issues pertinent to product function, safety, and integrity.

  • Interact positively with co-workers, suppliers, management, and customers in a team environment.

  • Utilize proficient written and verbal communication skills.

Essential Skills

  • Proficient use of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and ANSI Y14.5 Drafting Standards.

  • Project management skills.

  • Familiarity with sheet metal, injection molded, and machined parts.

  • Packaging design of aerospace hardware.

  • Drawing packages, assembly documents, BOM part selections, engineering change orders, and technical reports.

  • Structural analysis.

  • Problem solving and analysis.

  • Results driven.

  • Communication proficiency.

  • Time management and ability to meet scheduled deadlines.

  • Technical capacity.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university or college.

  • A technical degree with 10 years of experience may be considered in substitution of a Bachelor degree.

  • Enrollment in a Bachelor degree program will be taken into consideration.

  • Minimum of three years of related work experience.

  • Three years of SolidWorks and AutoCAD experience.

  • Three years of mechanical aerospace mechanism design experience.

  • Desire/ability to grow into leadership/management.

  • Working knowledge of aerospace and FAA requirements.

  • Experience with GD&T used twice per month, engineering management.

Work Environment

This job operates in an office and manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to moving mechanical parts and equipment. The physical demands include sitting at a desk for up to 8 hours, performing repetitive motions using office equipment, walking around office and industrial environments, and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employees may be required to wear a mask covering the mouth and nose while interacting with others according to company guidelines. This is a full-time position, regularly requiring work in excess of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with core hours from 9 AM to 3:30 PM.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.26 - $48.08/hr.
