Pittsburg State University invites applications for the position of
Marketing Manager in the office of Creative and Strategic
Communications. The Marketing Manager coordinates and lead projects
aimed at attracting and retaining students at Pittsburg State
University. This includes driving awareness through the creation and
deployment of relevant and engaging inbound and outbound content, search
marketing and search optimization, multichannel campaign development,
consulting with academic departments to enhance program-level
recruitment and retention, and working closely with Admission to
coordinate priorities, activities, and messaging. The position is also
charged administering the Universitys institution-level social media
accounts, and developing, maintaining, and monitoring tone consistency
across the entire Pitt State-branded social media presence. The
marketing manager plays a central role in the operations of the
university marketing team, working closely with each member to establish
and follow through on prioritized, coordinated strategies and projects
that drive forward the mission of the institution.
Duties and Responsibilities
Content creation and deployment 65%
- Generate, edit, publish, and share relevant, on-strategy, optimized,
and engaging content for social media and web daily
- Develop and lead social presence for PSU main accounts: Facebook,
Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Snapchat
- Work with a graphic designer, photographer, and videographer to
conceptualize and develop print and digital content for multichannel
campaigns
- Direct the creation of video and photography for unique social media
campaigns
- Direct marketing intern and other students in creation of social and
other digital content
- Establish and execute an annual social advertising plan
Cross-functional collaboration and project coordination 25%
- Coordinate requests from academic and other departments to market
their programs, providing input and guidance on marketing best
practices through training and templates
- Serve as marketing lead for Bicknell Presents productions at the
Bicknell Family Center for the Arts, aimed at ticket sales
- Lead regular collaboration with Admission, Campus Activities, and
Student Success
- Share responsibility for accessibility and search optimization of
web content
- Build and cultivate close working relationships with campus
leadership, faculty, and staff
- Develop process for coordinated community partner social campaigns
Planning and reporting 10%
- Drive creation of annual marketing plan for prospective and current
students designed to attract and retain
- Systematically collect, analyze, report, and act on data
