UPMC Lead Credentialing Coordinator in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

University of Pittsburgh Physicians Department of Emergency Medicine and Center for Community Hospitalist Medicine is hiring a full-time Lead Credentialing Coordinator. In this position, you will work Monday-Friday from 7:00am-3:30pm or 7:30am-4:00pm ( Hours are flexible within reason ). No evenings, weekends, or holidays required.

This position provides opportunity for flexible work arrangements with 2 days/week in office and 3 days/week work from home.

Purpose:

We are seeking a dedicated professional to manage the initial applications for new physicians seeking hospital privileges. This role involves handling CVO, hospital, malpractice, and enrollment applications, as well as reappointment applications. You will be responsible for collecting necessary documents for credentialing and performing data entry tasks. Additionally, you will serve as a backup for APP credentialing.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs all the duties of the Credentialing Coordinator including application processing, data entry and verification functions according to established policies, procedures and guidelines and serves as a role model for the coordinators.

  • Assists with the development, implementation and revision of processes, policies and procedures to assure the effective and efficient operation of the department.

  • Develops data entry standards to maintain the integrity of the database and completes projects to assure the completeness and accuracy of the data.

  • Provides initial orientation and ongoing training in the use of the software and for application processing and verification.

  • Assists with competency assessment of the staff annually and as necessary.

  • Resolves day-to-day staff issues and interoffice conflicts as necessary and assures that productivity is not negatively impacted.

  • Performs all aspects of credentialing and enrollment operations for the department and functions as a resource to the department/practice managers and/or directors.

  • Assumes responsibility for the office e-mail and inquiries when requested.

  • Functions as the expert user for the software application and provides help and issue resolution for the staff, the users and the practitioners.

  • Works to resolve software related issues and to maximize the use of the technology and functionality.

  • Competent in the job responsibilities of all staff members and performs their job duties and responsibilities as necessary.

  • Manages the process for follow up for application and reapplication packets received incomplete.

  • Prior credentialing experience (2 years required - 3 to 5+ years preferred)

  • HS diploma required (bachelor's degree preferred)

  • CPCS (Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist) certification preferred

  • Experience with both JCAHO and NCQA standards preferred

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills required

  • Excellent computer software application skills required and must have a desire to maximize the use of technology to automate processes.
