Research Technician I - Dr. Vatsun Sadagopans Laboratory
Job Summary
Performs laboratory testing and some analysis on multiple types of specimen samples. Operates and properly sterilizes equipment and maintains inventory and assists with ordering.
Essential Functions
The Sadagopan lab in the Department of Neurobiology seeks a research assistant for hearing research. Primary responsibilities involve assisting in a variety of laboratory experiments and procedures, including rodent surgeries, behavioral assays, and brain recordings. Preparing for surgeries, providing post-surgical care, and monitoring overall health of rodents. Overseeing supply management. As well as operating and properly maintaining equipment.
Physical Effort
Fairly long periods of standing (4 hours per surgery) during surgical and some experimental procedures. Has to lift animals placed inside carrier boxes and transport them from BST-South to BST3 (and back) every day.
