JOB TITLE: BOAT RAMP STEWARD DEPARTMENT: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: SEASONAL/NON-EXEMPT UNION/NON-UNION: NON-UNION The Boat
Ramp Steward will monitor City boat launch ramps in order to maintain a
visible presence, educate the public about laws and ordinances around
clean boating, and provide enforcement as needed. We are an affirmative

RESPONSIBILITIES: -Provides outreach and education to the public about
the threat to our environment posed by invasive species. -Monitors
vessel traffic at City boat ramps in order to determine that all vessels
launched are in compliance with the state\'s Zebra Mussel regulation,
and that all members of the public using the facilities are educated
about the Zebra Mussel law. -Refers members of the public to resources
for obtaining an inspection, or having their vessel cleaned in
appropriate cases. -Tracks activity at the boat ramp via data entry on
city-issued iPad. QUALIFICATIONS: -Must be 18 years of age or older.
-High school diploma or equivalent. -Ability to deal effectively with
the public; Enforce laws firmly and respectfully. -Able to work under
inclement weather conditions. -Read, understand, and interpret
applicable laws, codes and ordinances. -Work independently and use good
judgment; communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
-Understand and carry out oral and written instructions. -Performs other
duties as necessary or required. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed
outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions; work
may be performed in extreme temperatures; work is primarily performed
independently; work is performed in an environment with exposure to
moving vehicles and vessels; constant contact with the public. PHYSICAL
REQUIREMENTS: Moderate physical effort generally required. Frequently
required to spend several hours standing, sitting and walking in various
weather conditions. Physical mobility required such as bending,
reaching, pulling, stooping and lifting objects which weigh fifty (50)
pounds or more. HOURS: Approximately 24 hours per week. Weekend shifts
required. Duration of employment is Memorial Day weekend (May 25)
through Labor Day weekend (Sept 2) SALARY: Starting rate \$16.95 -
\$18.06 an hour Annual increases up to \$22.01 an hour APPLICATION
