Come join our growing Facilities team! Whether you have years of
experience in maintenance, are looking for a career change, seeking to
learn a new sill skill set or maybe you are winding down your career and
are wanting a different pace, we would welcome the opportunity to meet
you. Our Site Superintendents are a cohesive team that, together, care
for over 1,000 apartments within Berkshire County. Each Site
Superintendent takes pride in their property, is aligned with the
mission and values of the organization and is an integral part of the
larger Berkshire Housing Team. This position is responsible for the
day-to-day maintenance and general upkeep of rental units, common areas
including public bathrooms, laundry facilities, meeting spaces, exterior
building maintenance and surrounding property. This is not a supervisory
position. This is a 40-hour position. The hours are Monday through
Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. All Site Superintendents are assigned a one
week on-call rotation every 6-8 weeks. Mentoring is provided by our
countywide Lead Site Superintendents and The Director of Facilities.
What does a typical workday look like you might ask? As a Site
Superintendent, each day will vary from the next. Mornings begin with a
team check in, review of email, voicemails, new assigned work orders,
pending unit inspections, scheduled meetings, or emergencies that may
have come up at the property. Next, a walk about the property to check
the internal and external grounds, paying close attention to cleanliness
and any obvious structural concerns. Once you understand the priorities,
there is some flexibility in how the day is approached. Apartment
turnovers are always the priority. Often, tenant interactions may
interrupt the flow of the day. In this case, Site Superintendents are
coached to balance the conversation between empathetic listening and
gentle redirection. Each day closes with a final check of emails and
voicemails. The goal is always to leave the property feeling
accomplished, knowing that you made a positive difference. Job
