We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, or Tampa, FL.

The Opportunity

The ED, Payments will be accountable for leading the implementation and transformation of multiple retail payment products within USAA Federal Savings Bank’s portfolio. The position will work across various product lines, enterprise, technology, and digital channels to deliver world class payment experiences while meeting regulatory and risk requirements. ED, Payments will lead multiple Agile teams and be responsible for the oversight, prioritization, and coordination between cross-functional teams for a successful end-to-end management of the payment products.

  • Manages teams responsible for delivering on USAA’s retail payment strategy.Sets the objectives for the development and launch of the payment products to maximize market share, customer satisfaction and member retention.Manages the end-to-end retail payment process and oversees expense management.Considers USAA’s broader business strategy and complex regulations and heightened supervisory expectations, including how they apply in a matrixed commercial environment.

  • Leads business processes and technologies for payments to deliver on improved member experience and deepening member relationships. Identifies innovative strategic opportunities that enable the organization to be more competitive.Sponsors and/or leads projects to deliver on customer focused products and/or technologies while being attentive to cost.

  • Responsible for collaborating with distribution in Bank contact center and digital to align on value propositions for new payment products/capabilities, including a successful product launch that will meet member needs and increase market share.

  • Maintains awareness of developments, disruptors, and trends that may affect the competitiveness, quality, and/or profitability of the Bank’s ability to support the members’ needs. Ensures product team delivers sales support to all distribution channels (e.g., .com, mobile, contact center) so that the product is properly positioned to members.

  • Collaborates with partners across the enterprise (Marketing, Finance, Credit Risk Management, Legal, Information Technology, Operations, and Sales and Services) to ensure delivery of world class payment products, payment systems and member experience.

  • Accountable for developing and delivering product performance reporting to senior management that is inclusive of USAA’s performance as well as industry benchmark data.

  • Identifies, assesses, and controls material risk to ensure it is consistent with the risk appetite and risk tolerance for the organization. Effectively manages material risk through consistent assessment, testing, monitoring, and reporting of the organization’s controls.

  • Builds and oversees a team of employees for assigned functional area through ongoing execution of recruiting, development, retention, coaching and support, performance management, and managerial activities.

  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree: OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

Minimum Experience:

  • 10 years experience in retail banking with a proven track record leading comparable operations and complex programs that include, checking, savings, bill pay, remote deposit capture, wire, Zelle or funds transfers.

  • 5 years demonstrated experience in product development, product analytics, technologies, business case development, strategic planning, project management and tactical implementation.

  • 4 years experience of people leadership experience in building, managing and/or developing high-performing teams.

  • Experience working directly with, or supporting internal control functions in technology, payments/banking or working directly with regulators within the US, particularly, banking regulators.

  • Expert knowledge of ACH, SWIFT, ISO 20022, PCI, Reg E, Reg Z, and other relevant payments processing regulations.

  • Strong knowledge and application of regulatory and compliance requirements that allow continued progress of the business strategy and drives exceptional member experience and deepened member relationships.

Compensation:

USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $163,880 - 294,980

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

Long Term Incentive Plan: Cash payment for Executive level roles only, representing a cash payment which is both time and performance based.
