They will also be an appointed Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS).

A people leadership position, the key aim of the role is to improvement the effectiveness of the technical team’s performance through development of technical staff competencies and implementing improvements to processes and new ways of working.

About the role

Working with the Warehouse & Sterilisation Leader the Steriliser Engineering Supervisor will be responsible for shift based technical staff and their performance to safety, quality, delivery and cost targets with the steriliser areas. They will also be an appointed Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS).

A people leadership position, the key aim of the role is to improvement the effectiveness of the technical team’s performance through development of technical staff competencies and implementing improvements to processes and new ways of working.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure Machinery is maintained to its original standard and drive continuous improvements in MTBF (Mean time between Failure)

  • Improve team problem solving abilities to drive down MTTR (Mean Time to Repair)

  • Support and embed safe ways of working with the operational team leader to help drive the H&S culture on shift, with respect to PTW, LOTO, DRA and the Safe start methodology. Support the technical escalation procedure, providing technical expertise and assistance to steriliser technicians in resolving complex machine related faults including response to callouts. Ensuring technical root causes are identified, closed out with the aim of a reduction in overall escalations.

  • Serves as an appointed Radiological Protection Supervisor (RPS) for the two irradiators.

  • Lead and develop shift-based technicians & apprentices. Identify skills shortages, create and drive plans to fills knowledge gaps.

  • Take ownership of the technician skills matrix to measure and improve team performance.

  • Drive standard work improvements for technical work processes.

  • Work with Process Engineers and operational leaders to drive line performance improvements.

  • Create a succession pipeline and identify career pathways for team members.

  • Improve VOA score through increased technical engagement.

About you

We are looking for a candidate who has leadership experience, someone who has proven experience of driving improvements to people, culture and processes.

  • The candidate must be a confident problem solver and one who leads by example.

  • The candidate should have the minimum NVQ2 level in an Engineering field, together with a CMI qualification and 3 years leadership experience.

  • The qualifications are a guide, other candidates may be considered on merit or experience levels.

  • High speed automated Manufacturing experience is preferred. Experience of Lean methodologies would also be an advantage.
