Description KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direction of the Senior Laboratory Technician and/or Manager, sets up and tests different types of commercial and industrial fans, ventilators and related equipment according to TCF standards. Will build and/or modify fans and other types of equipment. This will require the use of equipment including, but not limited to, hand tools, pneumatic tools, electric drills and impact wrenches, welder, grinder, torch, etc. Knowledge of general rigging principles and safe practices when using overhead cranes and forklifts. Read and interpret blueprints, ensure correct parts are built according to drawings. Understand the assembly of components when reading a drawing or bill of materials. Perform seismic set up of test units in accordance with AC156 and ISO 17025. Assists in the material flow into and out of the shipping receiving department. Shipments are to be tagged upon receipt. Perform in-coming inspections/examinations of tests units. Perform dimensional verification according to TCF engineering, manufacturing and quality standards. Inspect, assemble, and set up test units in the UL 705 / CSA 22.2 motor safety testing facility. Responsible for coupling alignment of test drive to fan, verifying fan dimensions to agree with blueprints. Wire electric motors to the facility electrical supply circuits via disconnect switches, conduit boxes. Act, Live, and Behave by TCF Core Values. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Requires strong mechanical aptitude. High School Diploma or equivalent. 1-3 years of experience with sheet metal construction techniques, welding, forming or equivalent. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Drafting or blueprint experience is strongly desired. Experience with testing and assembly of mechanical equipment. Familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or ISO 17025 quality management systems. General computer aptitude. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Ability to occasionally lift up and move objects up to 50 pounds. Ability to frequently climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach, and stand.
