CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY\
The Assistant Manager Aquatic Program performs professional duties in
the supervision of the operations\
of the aquatic programs and services at Ross Park Aquatic Complex (RPAC)
and Community Recreation\
Center (CRC) through planning, coordinating, scheduling, and evaluation
of the aquatic staff and swim lesson\
programs. This position works under the general supervision of the
Recreation Program Manager.\
The job may require successful completion of a background check. The job
requires the ability to maintain a\
collaborative and cooperative working relationship with elected and
appointed officials, other City employees,\
other organizations, and the general public.\
The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather
conditions, in wet and humid conditions,\
with areas of dust, odors, mist, gases or other airborne matter.
Employees work in/at places where they are\
exposed to chemical hazards. This position works: days, evenings, and
weekends as required.\
*Placement on the pay scale and associated steps relate directly to
experience with the City of Pocatello.\
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (illustrative only and may vary by
assignment)\
Ensures proper staffing levels, prepares schedules, assigns personnel to
duty stations, observes pool\
attendance, and adds or shifts lifeguard staff as needed to ensure
proper coverage.\
Provides daily coordination and supervision of the aquatic and swim
lesson program at CRC. Ensures\
effective performance of the swim instructors and lifeguard staff.\
Provides professional support to front desk staff/cashiers during shift
to provide breaks and assistance as\
needed.\
Other duties include replenishing supplies, directing training
activities, checking pool chemicals, monitoring\
staff performance, and taking corrective action as needed.\

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS\
High school diploma or GED;\
Basic computer skills preferred;\
American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification required;\
Instructor of Lifeguard Certification workshop preferred;\
Three (3) years/seasons experience with increasing responsibility
working in aquatics programming and\
supervision required.\
An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the
required skills, knowledge and\
abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the
position may be considered.\

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\
While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is
frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop,\
kneel, bend, climb ladders, work at heights, and in confined spaces. The
job requires hand/finger dexterity to\
handle materials, manipulate tools, and reach with hands and arms. The
job requires operation of job-related\
equipment and driving a vehicle. The employee must occasionally lift
and/or move up to 50 pounds with\
