Trinity Health Radiology Assistant in Pontiac, Michigan

Description:

This individual works under the direction of and in partnership with the Radiology's team leaders which will include all sections of the Department of Radiology. This individual will be responsible for providing assistance to the Department of Radiology patients of all ages (including pediatrics) through his/her support of professional and technical staff. The responsibilities include delegation of components of patient imaging, patient transfer, radiology information system functions, housekeeping, patient education, and activities of daily living.

What you will need as a Radiology Assistant:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Current enrollment in radiology, nursing, respiratory therapy or other licensed or certified health program preferred.

  • Documented completion of minimum of one course in Medical Terminology.

  • Current Heart Saver (HS) certification.

  • Past experience in diagnostic radiology is preferred which would include a general knowledge of radiology procedures.

  • Demonstrates responsiveness to needs of patients, other care team members, and self.

  • Organizational and time management skills necessary to complete responsibilities of role.

  • Ability to use and effectively integrate positive communication approaches to meet diverse patient needs, optimize resources, and adapt care processes to accommodate changing patient acuity and unit needs.

  • Excellent interpersonal service skills necessary in order to form and maintain positive relationships with customers and other healthcare professionals.

  • Excellent customer service orientation skills necessary in order to deal effectively with various levels of hospital personnel, outside customers and community groups.

What you will do as a Radiology Assistant:

  • Provides patient care that reflects respect for patients' rights, dignity, values, culture preferences, and expressed needs and attention to providing comfort, relieving pain, and alleviating anxiety.

  • Contributes to the positive image of radiology services and enhances the SJMO culture of excellence by modeling professional behavior both in the organization and in the community.

  • Integrates principles of the Personal.Connected.Journey and demonstrates Trinity Health Guiding Behaviors to provide excellent care of self, patients, and care team members.

  • Assists technologist in performing radiologic procedures on patients of all ages:

Positioning of patients

  • Positioning of devices to complete procedure

  • Movement of patients on and off tables

  • Assists technologist in equipment:

  • Performs visual safety inspections of equipment and immediately reports to technician status

  • Provides radiation safety devices to patient under the direction of technologist

  • Assists the technologists in preparing images for reading.

Assists with room preparation:

  • Ensures patient areas are clean, "distraction-free" and ready to facilitate safe patient care

  • Ensures equipment is cleaned and ready for use at all times.

  • Uses hospital practice in appropriate infection control practices

  • Ensures appropriate supplies are available for patient care

Patient Care:

  • Safely transport patients from/to nursing departments

  • Monitor and assist with patient care as directed by technologist.

  • Transports x-ray jackets, equipment and other appropriate hospital property to expedite patient care

Care Experience:

  • Effectively demonstrates excellent patient care in communication with patients and other stakeholders
