  Job Summary: The Building Literacy Coach provides coaching and support through a continuous improvement process to develop and implement a multi-tiered system of support to ensure all students achieve academic and social-emotional success.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Michigan Professional Teaching Certificate with a minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience.
  • Knowledge and expertise in the science of teaching reading and writing.
  • Leadership in the administration and use of universal screeners.
  • Experience working with Professional Learning Communities, with proven collaboration and team-building skills.
  • Ability to collaboratively create and execute clear, logical plans that produce strong results.
  • Strong record of helping students achieve and sustain academic success.
  • Commitment to the belief that all students can learn, and to the mission of educational equity. 
  • Ability to use data in the decision-making process, and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to continuously elevate professional contributions through ongoing reflection, building upon previous learning, and being open and receptive to ongoing feedback.

Collaborate with other building literacy coaches and other members of the Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Department in order to provide district level guidance and support with the ELA Priority Standards and instructional coaching cycles

Coordinate with the principal to provide in-building professional development around literacy instructional needs as identified in the continuous learning plan

Provide teachers coaching support to implement high-quality literacy instruction to Young 5 through 5th-grade students

Demonstrate leadership in initial adoption and ongoing implementation support of core and supplemental 

Provide training, support, and coordination of building paraprofessionals under the guidance of the building principal

Serves as an MTSS Building Coordinator specializing in the school multi-tiered systems (MTSS) review and implementation of the grade level problem solving process while attending and disseminating information from Distric
