Microsoft Corporation Senior Infrastructure Software Engineer in Prague, Czech Republic

.NET is now a well-established open-source platform, and we are looking for a passionate infrastructure software engineer to build extraordinary engineering systems to power its construction and release.

As a Senior Infrastructure Software Engineer on .NET Product Construction Services team, you will have the opportunity to join the Platforms and Languages group and use your passion, technical expertise, and experience to build exceptional engineering and release systems for the .NET product. In this role, you will work closely with the .NET Release team and .NET product teams to understand their needs to design, implement, and maintain systems that enable us to build and deliver .NET to millions of developers worldwide.

Our technology stack is built on .NET (C#) and Azure, Azure DevOps based CI/CD pipelines, MSBuild, and scripting languages such as PowerShell and Bash. We also utilize a wide range of open-source technologies. Security is of paramount importance and reliability is the cornerstone of our success.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with our stakeholders, the .NET release and .NET product teams,to analyze their business requirements and design appropriate solutions.

  • Lead and provide technical direction for the design and improvements of the .NET release and engineering systems.

  • Implement clean and optimized solutions, improve test coverage for our systems, organize and implement integration tests.

  • Review and analyze the existing systems to identify opportunities for improvements based on telemetry and data.

  • Adhere to modern software engineering practices through design documents, issue management and code reviews.

  • Resolve issues on weekly rotations(in European business hours) and support the .NET Release team during releases of the .NET product.

  • Mentor, coach, and act as a role model to encourage the professional and technical growth of those around you.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Proficiency with at least one programming language (preferably C#, but can also be Java, Go, Python, ...).

  • Proficient in at least one scripting language, such as Bash, PowerShell.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Suggested Qualifications

  • Proven experience in the operational aspects of software development.

  • Deep understanding and proficiency in utilizing the Azure cloud computing platform.

  • Proficiency in working with multiple OS’s including Windows, Linux, and Mac.

  • Familiarity with open-source projects and related tooling such as GitHub.

  • Passion to deep dive in technology and the ability to zoom out to frame the big picture.
