As a Senior Software Engineer at Skype, you will lead efforts to deliver the best possible Skype experience worldwide. You will play a pivotal role in transforming the requirements of program managers, designers, UX engineers, and content managers into a magical experience for our users.
In this role, you will be at the forefront of guiding the engineering team, with the goal of offering the finest Skype experience globally. Your role will involve strategic collaboration with various teams, ensuring that project visions are not only realized but also resonate with our users. Responsibilities
Design and deliver applications that are performant, reliable, and secure for millions of users.
Build trust across teams and collaborate to deliver fantastic results.
Work with React and JavaScript/TypeScript to develop applications.
Implement instrumentation, analytics, and A/B testing to drive feature development.
Advocate for Agile methodologies, frequent app releases, and modern software development lifecycle.
Partner with backend services to develop mobile-friendly APIs using REST.
Take on a leadership role in partnering and working collaboratively with teams across Microsoft.
Teach others your skills and learn from your colleagues.
Build beautiful apps and craft the best user experience, ensuring apps are not just functional but also great to use.
Communicate clearly and effectively, whether coding, writing emails, or explaining technical issues to non-technical co-workers.
Learn and implement features end-to-end, even if it requires diving into native code, learning a new language, or making small changes to a backend service.
Identify and undertake important work that may not be obvious to others, collaborating with the team to accomplish it.
Qualifications
At least five years of software development experience in the industry.
Experience in designing systems, solving architectural and design problems, and building software from the ground up.
Required to be proficient in TypeScript and possess expertise in both functional and object-oriented programming.
Solid understanding of architectures, data structures, and design patterns.
Working experience with React and TypeScript.
Ability to collaborate and be a role model for others; skilled in explaining work, asking insightful questions, listening to peers and customers, and giving and receiving feedback.
Focused on building software that solves real problems for real people.
Professional engineering approach, ensuring code is well-designed, easy to test, and maintainable over time.
Clear and effective communication skills.
