About the role

The Utilities and EHS category leader will be responsible for all tactical and strategic support of these key commodities supporting our operations and facilities. This position will drive results and savings associated with utilities and key EHS initiatives to our portfolio consisting of over 1000 plants, warehouses and offices totaling 40+ million square feet and spanning 52 countries.

Requirements

  • MA/MS degree with 7+ years’ experience (preferred); BA/BS degree with 10+ years’ experience.

  • 10+ years’ experience in utilities strategic sourcing, supply chain management, or other operations leadership.

  • 10+ years’ leading cross-functional teams.

  • Prefer operational – manufacturing experience and large-scale utilities program management experience.

  • Proven ability to exercise independent business judgment to drive strategy and results.

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams to achieve results through leadership & influence.

  • Ability to excel in a dynamic environment.

  • Ability to lead analysis and resolution of complex problems where success requires the evaluation of both tangible and intangible variables.

  • Ability to travel internationally as required for due diligence, transition, and issue resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and Implement Utilities model strategies across Carrier’s global portfolio in EMEA, NA and APAC – RFP, due diligence, transition, full implementation, and ongoing performance as required.

  • Manage relationships with Utilities providers and strategic EHS providers.

  • Oversee customer relationship management with Carrier Bus

  • Drive productivity within the Utilities and EHS categories, execute on savings and cash targets.

  • Drive Utilities buy standard process.

  • Promote best practices, measure, and track internal performance, monitor strategy implementation to ensure benefit realization within the assigned category spend, partnering.

  • Work with business unit leads, brokers and Utilities providers to prepare, approve and monitor budgets plans.

  • Work with business leads, brokers, and suppliers to evaluate and implement site electricity self-generation.

  • Develop and implement strategies within the assigned category, sub-category or investment project spend in region and globally for EHS.

  • Lead complex commercial negotiations (pricing, payment terms, T&Cs etc.)

  • Work closely with Operations and Supply Chain to initiate, lead, and execute tendering process on all relevant facilities as it pertains to utilities and EHS.

  • Oversee end-to-end Sourcing process: strategy, market analysis, negotiation process (RFXs), supplier selection and contract creation, and buy channel management.

  • Ensure alignment with Utility programs and site integration to Carrier’s processes and tools to enhance energy management and payment.

  • Lead change control process and escalate issues to global leadership / Steering Committee.

  • Work directly with site operational leads to assist with managing risk and developing risk avoidance strategies.

  • Provide strategic leadership and commodity oversight to maximize business value and results.

  • Operational and spend analysis, development and execution of annual sourcing strategies, supplier negotiations, supplier performance management & operational support.

  • Drive value through supplier relationship management and regular QBRs

  • Partners with internal clients and stakeholders to identify sourcing needs and improve sourcing strategy. Leading frequent meetings, project development, negotiation and execution are key deliverables.

  • Analyzes suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect prices and lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules.

  • Support all acquisition, integration and divesture projects for the category when required.

  • Carrier’s Supply Chain Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Utilities and EHS procurement processes and programs.
