Position Summary

  • Position is accountable for partnering with the Executive Director, GDO Operations and the GDO Leadership Team to manage key strategic and tactical activities including execution of the strategic vision for the organization and support to monitor and adhere to financial and headcount targets in partnership with the GDO LT, Finance and RDSP.

  • Collaborates with leaders and subject matter experts in key enabling functions including Business Insights & Analytics (BIA), Research & Development Strategic Partnership (RDSP), Finance and Human Resources (HR) to develop, maintain and monitor the GDO hiring and resource plan to assure both internal resource and external partnership needs are in line with the GDO strategy of a flexible yet sustainable workforce.

  • Works across GDO functions to translate resource reporting and forecasting analytics into functional resource, hiring and budget plans

Position Responsibilities

  • Facilitates the development of GDO business strategy from internal expertise and external analysis

  • Translates business strategy into divisional objectives with actionable plans, and manages their successful delivery

  • Assists functional leaders with the design and implementation of short- and long-term business strategies

  • Works with GDO LT and functional leaders to ensure consistency in resource allocation (e.g., manager to line of business ratio, Site Monitor to site ratios, administrative staff, etc.).

  • Collaborates with BIA and GDO functions to develop, validate, and implement effective resource algorithms across GDO.

  • Collaborates with enabling functions to develop and implement tools and processes that inform managers and optimize resource planning and transparency within GDO.

  • Provides regular communication, reporting and engagement with GDO functional leads to assure that role and functional resource, workload and capacity are understood.

  • Leads a team of support personnel responsible for the maintenance, accuracy and currency of our staffing and requisition databases and reporting outputs.

  • Develops productive working relationships with key stakeholders throughout BMS with the ability to think strategically and effectively express his/her views.

  • Represents GDO Operations as needed in matrix forums, strategic teams or committees (preparatory materials, direct participation, or representative)

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree is required. A degree in Life Sciences, Business or equivalent is preferred.

  • At least 8 years in the clinical operations with 2 years of experience in business operations or financial/resource planning is required.

  • Robust understanding of the drug development process and clinical operations with a strong understanding of financial and resource planning and management is required

  • Demonstrated strength in assessing business-critical needs, developing business strategy, translating strategy into operating models and actionable plans, managing program execution, and delivering measurable business value

  • Strong experience with business process design and performance measurement

  • Strong business acumen and comfort in agile delivery and learning environment

  • Capable of bringing structure to vaguely defined problems while using creative yet pragmatic problem-solving approaches and execution management

  • Highly effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and executive-level messaging skills

  • Ability to build relationships and influence, and drive organizational engagement

  • Strong matrixed team leadership, mentoring, and people development & inclusion skills.

  • Demonstrates the ability to adopt a biopharma enterprise-wide and entrepreneurial mindset, to act with speed, accountability, and integrity. Project Management skills preferred
