As an Associate Product Engineer, a typical day might include the following:
* Understand the SEL ICON product line and applications. Analyze competitor products and prepare technical product comparison reports.
* Prepare and maintain product documentation, including data sheets, flyers, instruction manuals, guide form specifications, release notes and service bulletins with supervision.
* Participate with development engineers and product managers to prioritize development activities to meet customer needs while accomplishing objectives.
* Participate in specifying product requirements and work closely with product managers to ensure product features and functionality meet the customer/market needs.
* Maintain an end user system operational understanding of specific technologies and the functional priority.
* Support marketing in the creation of materials for use in educating customers on successful examples of SEL product applications.
* Participate in threat modeling and perform security testing.
* Share knowledge across development areas to understand and implement test systems.
* Gain knowledge in product regulatory compliance and type testing by fielding ad hoc requests such as research, technical analysis, and wiring diagrams.
* Integrate into project teams providing support in areas like testing, troubleshooting, validation
* Continuously identify, measure, follow, and improve R&D processes.
This job might be for you if you have:
* B.S. degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
* Working knowledge of communications networks and electric power systems
* An interest in cybersecurity and regulatory compliance
* A basic marketing experience
* Good technical and marketing presentation skills
* Willing to travel up to 25%
Preferred Qualifications:
* Project management and/or project technical leadership
* Experience with electric utility relay and telecommunications
* Specifying graphical user interface
