Purpose of Job

Contribute to the growth and success of the Centre of Excellence for Technologies in Buildings. Establish and develop a successful business unit within the framework of the Company. Be an obvious cultural, technical, and strategic leader within the CoE. Represent the company externally to Clients and play a senior and active role in managing these relationships. Provide required support to staff assisting on your

projects to ensure clear direction, profitable outcome, QA adherence, risk management and team morale.Tailor personal marketing efforts to suit CoE workload requirements. Comply with QA procedures and proactively complete all required reporting as required by the CoE Leader including monthly invoicing and forward load predictions.

  • Contribute to CoE strategic direction Assist CoE Leader in developing a strategic plan. Set

  • personal goals and plans which are consistent and co-ordinated with CoE goals and strategies.

  • Regularly interact and engage with other members of the leadership group in the CoE.

  • Lead and foster a culture of continuous technical, procedural and QA improvement within the

  • context of your projects

  • Accept full responsibility for projects undertaken and remain close enough to ensure control of the

  • process.

Management & Technical

  • Prepare Audio-Visual Tenders documentation including equipment performance specifications as

  • well as nominate suitable equipment, systems schematics, floor plans and RCP.

  • Follow AVIXA / InfoComm standards and design guidelines as well any local or international codes -

  • e.g. BCA & DDA

  • Review all the AV submissions for the various contractors and provide a recommendation to the

  • during the tender stage

  • Conduct onsite visits during the installation phase of the project to inspect and report on the work

  • being carried out by the AV installer as required

  • Provide design support in ICT for our various offices and projects across Australia for the design of

  • local area networks (LAN), including racks, network devices, containment, cabling and physical

  • spaces

  • Contribute to the design of various ICT systems, including access control, security, video surveillance,

  • wireless coverage, audio-visual, building automation, guard calls and public calls system.

  • Prepare technical documents for planning, preparation of specifications and drawings, calling of

  • tenders and providing construction service support including testing and commissioning.

  • Review

  • maintenance and operations manuals. There may be a requirement to visit site during the testing or

  • provide independent testing as requested by the client

  • Satisfactory completion of any Client projects in terms of program, profitability, risk management

  • (contractual & technical) and overall, Client satisfaction

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain full control and understanding of technical aspects of projects to

  • successfully manage technical risk

  • Continual improvement of quality procedures and standards and proactive implementation of the

  • same

  • Management of personal workload levels and marketing efforts to suit CoE requirements and your

  • equitable contribution. Ensure continuity of workload for engineers and draftspersons in your teams

  • and manage projects in a way which generally enables staff to enjoy a work/lifestyle balance.

  • Management of commercial aspects including contractual terms, fee, scope creep and

  • programming negotiations

  • Strive to develop an area of technical expertise which is recognised and respected by colleagues

  • and assist and develop others in this area

  • Execution of project design, documentation and contract administration services including regular

  • project reviews, liaison with Client and consultant team, liaison with authorities, reporting and site

  • construction monitoring

  • Carry out the implementation and ensure the adherence by teams to quality procedures and

  • standards. Self-manage personal PE non-conformances

  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and proactively engage with your discipline in other offices

  • Be informed about the contract terms applicable to your projects. Negotiate on behalf of the

  • company to minimise exposure. Involve Senior Management where required

  • Provide clear briefs to staff and keep team members informed of project developments.

  • Skilfully and appropriately delegate tasks to resources and closely manage the process to ensure

  • successful outcomes

  • Collaborate with other Technical Leads in your CoE in relation to technical issues, resource sharing

  • and project reviews

  • Ensure Project Teams are aware of commercial and technical risk and what they should do to

  • minimise it

  • Invest personal time and effort in the training, support and development of others

  • Reliably and proactively undertake regular administrative tasks necessary including invoicing and

  • forward load updates

  • Reliably save project emails and other project related documentation using company protocols

  • Maintain close control over problem debtors and make personal contact to recover debt when

  • required. Assist Corporate Services as required in relation to this.

  • Project finances responsibilities

Project Involvement

  • Manage scope and design complex technology solutions with multiple interfacing points

  • Compile technology strategy reports to reflect client objectives and technology support in

  • delivering value-based outcomes

  • Participate in Business Development activities and demonstrates extensive technical

  • comprehension and motivation focused on client outcomes

  • Provide education and consulting to clients on the benefits and business value of a holistic

  • approach by integrating and adopting new technologies

  • Collaborate with team members and key stakeholders on developing a smart building centre

  • of excellence

  • Manage relationships with client stakeholders to ensure alignment of strategies, objectives and

  • deliverables

  • Contribute to the expansion of the Smart Building program

  • Apply basic technical skills and design documentation processes to produce accurate and

  • timely deliverables and reports

  • Use dedicated software to generate Smarti Building designs and ensure that new and existing

  • designs are documented to a high standard

  • Collaborate with project managers as part of a coordinated design team

  • Under the direction of the project manager, support project requirements including

  • fprecasting, risk analysis. estimates, drawing documentation and systems design

  • Develop, review efficient and accurate solutions for design problems.

  • Research, prepare, and present coordinated design options

  • Review drawings and research relevant code and standard issues to comply with city, state,

  • and federal regulations

  • Communicate with manufacturers and contractors to address challenges and develop

  • effective solutions to overcome these challenges

  • Provide contract documents that meet required codes and quality assurance standards

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Extensive interaction with clients at a senior level

  • Technical writing skills experience

  • Preferred experience in intelligence decision making and data analytics reporting

  • Prepare detailed design drawings without supervision.

  • Integrate design elements with architectural, civil, structural, electrical, mechanical and other

  • disciplines to deliver a coordinated design.

  • Basic knowledge of applicable codes and standards including ANSI/TIA and BICSI best

  • practices

  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to prepare and present accurate,

  • professionally written reports and recommendations

Education and Experience

  • 5+years of experience in Smart Buildings or technology projects

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Technology or Business

  • Experience with Visio and/or iBwave

  • Knowledge of specialty calculations

  • Familiarity with and ability to apply sustainable design principles within projects
