Confidential Employer Social Services Caseworker in PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pennsylvania

Community Action, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization offering a multitude of services to low-income individuals and families. Social Service Caseworkers are needed in the Punxsutawney area to interact directly with individuals to determine needs, review resources, develop goal plans, make referrals, and find resources to assist individuals and families to meet life-sustaining needs. Services may involve homeless individuals, veterans, and victims of domestic violence and may be provided by telephone, in-person, and/or in shelters; some travel may be involved

Currently we are seeking to fill 2 full-time positions (37.5 hours per week) working day shift Monday through Friday (may have occasional evening/weekend calls) for $19.04 per hour with full benefits after 30 days of employment. Dual work sites are Punxsutawney and Clarion, PA or DuBois, PA. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Responsible for casework including: assessment, confidential intakes, goal planning, referrals, advocacy, support, follow-up, and case documentation; after-hours emergency and shelter services may be required.

  2. Develops and maintains comprehensive knowledge of community resources and provides information and referrals.

  3. Encourages and mentors consumers and assist them overcome barriers and obtain applicable services and support necessary to achieve their planned goals. May conduct support and educational group services.

  4. Ensures shelters contain the supplies necessary to support consumer needs.

  5. Ensures consumer and service data is accurately collected, recorded, and reported within required timelines.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree and one year related experience is preferred; however, an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully the following computer skills and knowledge are required: Computer Literate, including the Windows Operating System and Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer; and data entry.
