Job Title: Entry-Level General Laborer, Family-Owned Carpentry Business

Dispatch Location: Puyallup, WA

Job Type: Full-Time OR Part-Time Schedules Accepted Depending

About Us: We are a reputable, family-owned carpentry business specializing in custom fence and deck installations in the Greater Puget Sound. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality craftsmanship and excellent customer service. We are looking for a motivated Entry-Level General Laborer to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone eager to learn and grow in the carpentry field.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the installation of various types of fences including Chain Link, Cedar (various styles), Vinyl, Split Rail, and Composite.
  • Assist in the installation of decks, similar materials but mostly Composite.
  • Assist in measuring and cutting lumber.
  • Learn to carry/lift heavy materials safely by helping with tearing down, hauling, and stacking existing fencing and decking.
  • Support digging and setting of fence or deck posts according to code.
  • Participate in site preparation for installation.
  • Assist with gate installations.
  • Perform minor repairs and adjustments under supervision.
  • Learn to use power tools safely and effectively.
  • Observe health and safety regulations and safe working practices.
  • Cooperate with other team members and learn from experienced colleagues.
  • Maintain punctuality and report time worked daily.
  • Be respectful of customers and their property by cleaning each job site at the end of each workday.
  • Assist in maintaining and cleaning tools, returning all equipment to proper bins and locations by maintaining all tools and proper storage of equipment in trucks.
  • Learn to use a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Support the completion of projects on schedule.
  • Work effectively in a team setting.
  • Dedicate to quality work and client satisfaction.
  • Learn to find innovative solutions to challenges.

Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to read a measuring tape.
  • Willingness to learn and work under time pressure.
  • Conscientiousness and responsibility for assigned tasks.
  • Accuracy and precision in carrying out installation works.
  • Ability to stand on a ladder or be up to 1-2 stories high; can't have a debilitating fear of heights.
  • Ability to carry/lift heavy materials.
  • Ask questions and seek directions as needed.
  • Need to own & bring a set of basic tools: Tape measure (25ft minimum), Framing and Finish Hammers, Speed Square, Pocket Level, Utility Knife and blades, Screwdriver set (Phillips and Flathead). Bags not required but highly recommended.

Qualifications:

  • Prior construction or handyman experience ideal; training will be provided.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
