GE Aerospace Experienced Embedded Software Engineer (E3) - Aircraft Engines Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) in Queretaro, Mexico

Job Description Summary

Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) at GE Aviation is focused at providing useful information about aircraft engines health condition and its components. PHM engineers define requirements of the system with stake holders, develop software (SW) both on the aircraft engine main computer, validates software, document procedures and findings, and provide support to field investigations.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Understand PHM system architecture for GE aircraft engines.

  • Develop PHM software using Model Based Design or Hand Coded languages.

  • Test PHM software using Model Based Design or Hand Coded languages.

  • Coach and train less knowledgeable engineers regarding the PHM discipline.

  • Identify and work with main PHM stakeholders and experts on each PHM subsystem Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary team activities.

  • Engage and participate with main stakeholders in PHM design decisions.

  • Support and lead implementation of PHM functions from embedded software to analytics development.

  • Understand and support subsystems identification affected by PHM function development Efficiently communicate status and describe PHM system to upper management, technical leaders, and stakeholders.

  • Understand the PHM development process including different types of reviews, documentation and technical leaders’ involvement and enforce its correct application.

  • Understand roles within the programs´ PHM team, what are their activities and what type of support they can provide.

  • Be aware of and timely communicate any issues (technical and non-technical) to technical leaders and management.

  • Review self and other person’s deliverables and provide status of the team to key stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • BS degree.

  • Degree must be in: Electronic, Mechatronic, Computer Systems engineering or similar. Mechanical engineering (with proven programming skills).

  • Advanced programming skills in: C, C++, MATLAB, and model-based environments such as SCADE or SIMULINK.

  • Demonstrated skills to quickly learn new programming languages and technologies.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership experience.

  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.

  • Effective written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish.

  • Demonstrated ability in establishing common goals and objectives.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and prioritize work.

  • Disciplined, self-driven, can work independently without supervision; shows initiative and is proactive.

Desired Characteristics

  • Knowledge on aircraft engines performance and operational parameters.

  • Experience in Digital Signal Processing techniques.

  • Experience in Data Mining techniques and Machine Learning algorithms.

  • Experience in prototyping analytic solutions for complex problems.
