Job Description

As the Director, Americas HR Shared Services, you will provide strategic vision and direction as well as day-to-day operational leadership to the Americas HRSS (HR Shared Services) team, which delivers high-quality service to employees and partners across a number of HR functional areas. You will lead a large diverse team who delivers services across the entire employee lifecycle including onboarding/offboarding and leave of absence administration. You will also be responsible for partnering with other regions to grow the HRSS service offering and enhancing self-service and self-help to insure and support our customers. Additionally, you will collaborate with counterparts in other regions to expand and enhance our HRSS offerings, focusing on the development of self-service capabilities and support tools to meet and exceed our customers’ needs.

More specifically, you will :

  • Be responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of HR operational activities and processes

  • Provide leadership and development of the HR Shared Services team through effective direction, delegation, coaching and performance management

  • Identify process improvements by identifying issues, process delays and quality problems and recommending solutions.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between employees, key partners (COEs (Centre of Excellence)) and various providers

  • Serve as key point of contact for input into improvements and future state HR systems

  • Develop project plans for technology related projects and partner on technology projects involving multiple departments and external vendors.

  • Lead efforts with team leads to identifyimprovements/enhancements to new and existing HR applications, reports, business processes, etc.

  • Be a point of escalation for region and escalates issues as needed that pose a high legal risk

  • Capability to lead, motivate, and challenge an operations team to deliver on the objectives of the function and to continuously develop their skills and competencies in line with HR best practices.

  • Ensures team and company actions are compliant with relevant legislation.

  • Have knowledge of data management and database management processes.

  • Participate in the program reviews by providing analysis of current and potential cost impacts, analysis of department implementation issues, and system testing.

  • Lead efforts to work with Global HR partners, employees, and third-party vendors to resolve complex issues

  • Implement new and enhanced programs that support the HR strategy

  • Must be able to exercise judgment and independently determine and take appropriate action within defined

  • Accelerate knowledge and content usage, adoption for employees and HR teams.

  • Lead efforts to participate in HR systems related implementations or integrations (ServiceNow,Workday and vendors’ online benefits systems) including testing and go-live.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with proven experience in a business facing role with the confidence and ability to interact with all levels of the organization

  • A self-starter with the proven ability to deliver on results, meet deadlines, and lead complex HR projects, including systems implementations and integrations (e.g., ServiceNow, Workday).

  • Able to exercise judgment and independently determine and take appropriate action within defined HR policies and procedures.

  • Proven ability to analyze complex datasets and derive actionable insights that drive HR strategy and improve service delivery.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in HR/HR Operations and a BA or BS degree

  • Master’s degree can be substituted for 2 years of related experience.

  • Must possess the ability to present concise and clear presentations to employees.

  • Exposure to service delivery in Canada, Central and South America

  • With guidance from immediate manager, must be able to identify appropriate actions to take in resolving issues using well-defined HR policies and procedures.

  • Work is performed under general direction.

  • Must possess well-developed influencing skills.

  • Experience of managing or leading large teams

  • Experience of business analysis (including requirements gathering and writing user stories) Strong communication skills and stakeholder management

  • Expertise in ServiceNow or leading enterprise-wide case management solution

The salary range for this position is: $173,910.00 - $225,060.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
