In this role, you will be responsible for multiple engineering teams that are building, maintaining, and supporting our Nsight Energy Intensity Platform. This includes scrum development teams, customer support team, quality assurance, system integrations, and DevOps. You will ensure that the engineering teams are delivering the right outcomes through our patterns of planning, grooming, reviewing code, testing, and continuously deploying. You will make sure each team member has what they need to make progress, develop their skills, and grow professionally. You will be responsible for our infrastructure and ensure all internal systems operate securely and effectively. You will also make sure we continually improve our patterns and coordinate with other teams including Product, Services, and Sales.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, motivate, grow, and develop front-end and back-end development teams while prioritizing their projects and setting objectives.

  • Work cross-functionally with senior management across the organization to plan the key outcomes for your team that align with our company goals.

  • Own your teamʼs outcomes for designing, building, testing, and deploying valuable features for our customers.

  • Communicate your team’s progress across the organization so that we can celebrate our wins and understand our challenges.

  • Actively participate in scoping, estimating, and code reviews to ensure best practices are being followed for quality and teamwork.

  • Offer suggestions from your experience to continually improve all aspects of the software lifecycle.

  • Leverage your experience to help guide the team throughout the software development process.

  • Hire engineers and support staff and coordinate their onboarding, training, and development.

  • Meet regularly with each team member to support, set goals, discuss progress and challenges, give feedback, and coach their professional growth.

  • Collaborate with the product team to align on the most important customer challenges and business needs.

  • Ensure that the reliability and performance of our platform and internal systems are continuously monitored and improved as needed.

  • Ensure a thorough QA strategy is carried out to meet our quality standards.

  • Ensure compliance with security regulations.

  • Ensure engineering team is utilizing a market leading tech stack that is reliable, scalable, and reduces development and support costs.

  • Prepare and manage the engineering department’s budget.

  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders for new integrations with customer and third party platforms.

  • Have a constructive voice that adds to our collaborative culture.

Requirements

Requirements to lead the team:

  • 10+ years of industry experience in software engineering/development.

  • 7+ years of engineering management experience and people management experience.

  • Technical background that enables you to engage in conversations to help the team plan. work, remove blockers, expand careers, and make important decisions.

  • Experience implementing best practices for software development.

  • Experience working in an agile team that continuously delivers value for customers and understands the needs that come with that.

  • Experience with hiring, developing, and motivating top tech talent

  • Ability to collaborate with high-performing teams and individuals across the organization to achieve common goals and objectives.

  • Extensive experience with cloud technologies.

  • Hands-on experience in back-end and front-end development.

  • Good understanding of agile methodologies.

  • Leadership abilities with a strategic mind.

  • Enjoys a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment.

  • Excellent project management skills.

  • BSc/MSc in Engineering, Computer Science or relevant field.

Nice to have experience or background:

  • Energy solutions including metering, energy efficiency, GHG reporting, distributed energy resources

  • Data science and/or AI/ML based solutions

  • Industrial IoT and time series data

  • Utility (electric, gas, water) bills, tariffs, rate structures

  • Industrial verticals including manufacturing, logistics, transportation, warehousing, cold storage, food and beverage, oil and gas, or chemicals
