HOLLY HILL HOSPITAL LLC Mental Health Technician in RALEIGH, North Carolina

We provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient behavioral health and mental health services to children, adolescents, young adults, adults and seniors. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Mental Health Technician will assist in the direct care and management of patients across all age ranges with medical and behavioral issues as directed by the treatment team. The Mental Health Technician will also assist with unit programming to facilitate the carryover of therapy issues, leisure activities, and activities of daily living within the functional ability of patients and with consideration for the patients level of growth and development.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Displays an understanding of the basic concepts of safe, supportive, nurturing, and therapeutic human interactions.
  • Demonstrates understanding of program and philosophy and is able to interpret and implement patient care.
  • Displays an active interest in learning. Demonstrates creativity and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrates leadership by training new employees.
  • Effectively interacts with patients, peers, and families.
  • Demonstrates ability to follow behavior program.
  • Actively supervises therapeutic and recreational activities.
  • Understands and practices effective motivational techniques.
  • Demonstrates consistent ability to problem-solve and communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrates regular, required attendance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Training:

  • High School diploma or equivalent or combination of education/experience.
  • Prefer bachelors degree or college courses in health care, mental health, recreational therapy, education, or human growth and development.

Experience:

  • Prefer one years experience as a nurses aide, mental health aide, psych aide, or the equivalent in a rehabilitation, psychiatric, or similar setting.Military experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current North Carolina Drivers License
  • Current CPR Certification (American Health Association Healthcare Provider)
  • CPI Certification
