Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a creative and highly talented Senior Hydraulics Engineer based in Raleigh, North Carolina . This position will serve as a technical lead and support role on drainage and hydraulic transportation projects and designs.

Typical duties and responsibilities:

  • Preparing and reviewing working drawings, plans, cost estimates, studies, reports and other work products

  • Analysis and design of stormwater drainage system, hydraulic structures, and highway drainage systems

  • Perform independent tasks and reviewing technical work of others.

  • Mentor, lead, and training junior level staff.

  • Drafting technical reports and memoranda.

  • Face to face interaction with clients.

  • Will manage staff on complex projects and coordinate with public agencies.

  • Independently manage technical tasks and staff.

  • Work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.

  • Participate in developing services for planning, design, engineering, procurement and contracting, permitting and construction services.

  • Participate in developing practices for public agencies to maintain compliance with stormwater regulations.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Civil, Environmental, or related engineering field plus six (6) years of demonstrated equivalency of experience and /or education.

  • Professional engineering (PE) license in the State of North Carolina or ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months of hire date.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Eight (8) years of engineering experience including design of pipe systems, channels, and stormwater design.

  • Good organizational, leadership, communications, influencing, and negotiation skills.

  • Experience in detention basin modeling.

  • Understanding of surface water quality, stormwater quality, and stormwater management in construction and post-construction settings, hydrology, fluvial processes, and applicable rules and regulations.

  • Experience in erosion and sedimentation control design.

  • Experience in developing project plans and specifications.

  • Preparing specifications and cost estimates Construction bid support.

  • Experience and familiarity with the following programs: HEC-RAS 1-D, HydroCAD, AutoCAD, Microstation (V8i/ORD), Geopak Drainage, HY-8, SRH-2D, PCSWMM.

  • Strong analytical and computation skills.

  • Knowledge of civil engineering principles.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $95,656.00 - $125,000.00.
