Job Title: Technologist Trainee
Job Description
We are seeking a motivated Technologist Trainee to join our high-volume laboratory team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for growth and development within the top diagnostic laboratory in the country. Successful candidates will receive comprehensive training and have the potential to transition into permanent roles within the organization.
Responsibilities
Calibrate and clean pipettes and instrumentation as necessary.
Troubleshoot and resolve instrument issues.
Follow quality control rules, monitor controls for error detection, and take corrective actions as needed.
Maintain laboratory records, maintenance logs, quality control charts, reagent, and standard logs.
Handle instrument-heavy tasks, including getting samples off the propel instrument and loading them onto the chem line.
Process samples through the chem line and release results to the system.
Review results and maintain the instruments.
Manage very high volume testing, with each technologist responsible for two instrument lines, handling 6-8k specimens per shift.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in life science (BS preferred, BA accepted) in chemistry or biology.
Experience in wet chemistry preferred.
Academic lab experience accepted.
Forensic toxicology experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
Excellent research and problem resolution skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment to meet established turnaround times.
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively in a high-volume environment.
Work Environment
This is a contract position with a potential transition to permanent roles. The laboratory offers great trainers and leadership, providing excellent entry-level training for laboratory techs. You will train for 12 weeks on your regular shift. Available shifts include Sunday-Thursday from 11:30 pm to 8:00 am, and Tuesday-Saturday from 11:30 pm to 8:00 am. Enjoy amenities such as a coffee bar accessible for night shift employees and a 24-hour quick check near the lab for breaks. Join a team that handles 100k specimens per night, with each technologist responsible for managing 6-8k specimens per shift.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $29.00/hr.
