Job Summary

To ensure that strategic material planning processes are in place to enable operational and production continuity. Takes a coordinating lead, working closely with internal and external parties to ensure supply of materials is in place to satisfy production requirements. Able to deliver efficient, effective, and flexible solutions to meet production requirements.

Managing the material planning team of 14 direct reports and budgetary management responsibilities.

What You Will Do

  • Coordinating with Demand and Order team, manufacturing and suppliers on short and long-term production forecasts and expected deliverables.

  • Work closely with the purchasing team to ensure purchasing strategies are maximized.

  • Ensure that material scheduling strategy and processes are in place and work effectively to ensure material supply meets production requirements with minimum stock levels, whilst optimizing costs

  • Support new business initiatives and projects and contribute to review meetings and change process. Ensure effective.

  • Take ownership of material planning issues that arise, including over or under delivery and take any follow up actions especially in the event of material shortages that affect production.

  • Contribute to the assessment and sourcing of suppliers in conjunction with members of the purchasing team.

  • Develop and maintain good relationships with suppliers and ensure demand for materials is met and deliveries made on time.

  • Ensure that any Material Requirements Planning system (MRP) or IT system in place is effective and that data is accurate and up to date and resolve any issues as required.

What You Have:

Degree Requirement: Degree or equivalent experience desired

Material Planning

  • Significant experience of working in a material planning role and managing the smooth supply of materials in line with production requirements and budget, ideally within automotive or manufacturing.

  • The ability to provide the right level of material planning details as input for strategic plan development.

  • The ability to ensure the planning process is integrated with the overall business plan.

Inventory Management

  • The ability to effectively manage local or distributed inventories of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.

  • The ability to ensure that the inventory is at an appropriate level and meets both internal and external requirements.

  • The experience of providing guidance on daily work of inventory management for different locations within a facility or a supply network.

  • The ability to use data and facts for inventory management to find out related problems and to apply systems and processes to resolve conflicts.

  • The ability of quantifying the costs, benefits, risks, and chances for success before recommending a course of action.

Team Management

  • Proactively contribute to creating a good team atmosphere.

  • Anticipates and overcomes obstacles.

  • Embraces personal challenge, confident, rounded thinking.

  • Takes ownership for team cohesion.

Supply Chain Management

  • The experience of managing supply chain finance activities and measurements of effectiveness.

  • Could act as a consultant on supply chain network design projects or processes.

Effective Communications

  • Fluent oral English is required for this position.

  • Have experience in working in diverse culture and could communicate well downward, upward, and outward to achieve business goals.

  • Employ appropriate methods of persuasion when soliciting agreement.

Additional Information:

  • Around 10% international travel

  • Relocation or ISE is not applicable
