Meta AR Display and Optics Sourcing Manager in Redmond, Washington

Summary:

You will have the chance to shape technology roadmaps, drive partners/suppliers to establish and mature factories from the ground up, and scale and ramp the production of one of the most crucial modules in display&optics domain, that will define the future performance of AR glasses - a truly pivotal innovation.

Required Skills:

AR Display and Optics Sourcing Manager Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct global market landscape analyses for new technologies / modules/ use-cases, & partner with PMs, engineering leads and other XFN stakeholders to recommend the right decision matrix to serve RL long-term technology needs

  2. Actively engage and influence new technology exploration, collaborate with cross functional partners on creating a long term Technology Roadmap mapping closely with Product Roadmaps, and advise/recommend to the executive team a clear partner/supplier strategy

  3. Work with engineering and operations team to implement the right development frameworks at select partners to kick-start manufacturing and process technology solutions that best aligns with products needs

  4. E2E ownership of sourcing category and strategies, leading 5+ year technology portfolio decisions, partner selection and business negotiations

  5. Partner and work with a cross-functional team to drive the supplier selection process (own RFx) and component qualification both under strict engineering, operational, and commercial best practices/disciplines

  6. Drive Early Supplier Involvement initiatives to ensure suppliers/partners are proactively providing input into new product designs and future product roadmaps

  7. Be an expert in commodity technology, cost and supply. Strong command of value engineering and technical cost reduction concepts for both product and category level

  8. Drive product cost and negotiate competitive pricing while keeping in mind the total cost of ownership including BOM cost, CapEx, logistics, inventory and cost of quality

  9. Apply cost engineering principle to deliver most aggressive should-cost and budget (OpEx/CapEx) projections, with the ability to stand up to the most aggressive alternatives, doubts, and scrutiny

  10. Drive supplier and site readiness activities for NTI and NPI programs leading to successful product launch with the ability to deliver to the required volumes at launch. This includes coverage across operational, commercial and legal domains

  11. Drive and influence internal XFN stakeholders to achieve established KPIs on total cost, supply, quality and and on-time delivery

  12. Ability to travel internationally

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical field

  2. 3+ years of experience in the consumer electronics or tech industry and experience scaling technologies, having taken a component or module or system from concept stage into mass production

  3. Experience building and influencing relationships at suppliers executives level with a holistic view on supplier’s core capabilities, enabling future collaboration in new/uncharted technology domains, to consolidate leverage for Meta

  4. Factory management and operations experience internationally

  5. Experience in supplier evaluation/selection, should cost models, contract negotiation and supply base management

  6. Proven cost modeling and industry benchmarking skills, with the experience driving suppliers to minimize Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for Meta

  1. Experience and knowledge in Optics, Display, Cameras and Depth Sensing technology

  2. Experience in vision sensing technologies, including, ToF, Structure light, VCSEL, Cameras, image sensors, semiconductors, micro lens, free form optics, Fresnel Optics, optical coating, optical film lamination, etc.

  3. Experience in financial statement analysis to derive should-cost models and cost competitiveness/financial strengths of suppliers, as well as gathering market intelligence

  4. Experience with medical or ophthalmic industry or experience with silicon or semiconductor fabs covering technology, equipment, process, infrastructure, and scale

  5. Master’s degree or PhD in technical discipline, and/or a MBA degree

Public Compensation:

$167,000/year to $230,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
