The Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) team is looking for a passionate, talented, and inventive Senior SDE to play pivotal role in the development of runtime services for industry-leading conversational assistant capabilities.

Key job responsibilities

We are looking for talented Software Development Engineers to build the next generation architecture for the core runtime Orchestration platform and enable new dimensions of customer experiences on Alexa. You will work with the engineering team which shapes core of Alexa engine, and builds capabilities that plays a major role in the evolution of industry-leading conversational assistance capabilities. Your time with us will be impactful, and your vision, creativeness and engineering output adopted by teams across Amazon and beyond.

  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of key platform services interfacing with large language models required for building conversational agents.

  • Work with other team members to investigate design approaches, prototype new technology and evaluate technical feasibility.

  • Work in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high quality software against aggressive schedules.

As a member of the team you will be responsible for leading the development and launch of core product features. You will have significant influence on our overall strategy by helping define these product features, drive the system architecture, and spearhead the best practices that enable a quality product.

A day in the life

As a Sr. Software Development Engineer with the AGI team, you will be responsible for leading the development high performance, low latency, cutting edge runtime engineering solutions to advance the state of the art Conversational Assistant agents. Your work will directly impact our customers in the form of products and services that make use of conversational agent innovations. You will collaborate closely with a team of engineers and scientists to influence our overall strategy, and define the team’s roadmap. You will drive system architecture, spearhead best practices, and mentor junior engineers. You will leverage Amazon’s heterogeneous data sources and large-scale computing resources to accelerate development with Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI) to improve Conversational Excellence.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
