Job Summary:

Serves as the SupervisorofPlantOperationoverseeingmaintenance & repair operations. The positionis responsible foroversite of theSparkman Center Complex, maintenance and repair of Redstone Arsenal,boiler,and heatingplants, with oversite ofassociated steamand natural gas distribution systems. TheSupervisoris responsible foreffective management and supervision of assigned employees, tools, equipment, and other resources in the accomplishment of these contract requirements and to assure that all tasks are being performed safely.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the operation of boilers and boiler plant equipment.

  • Supervises the Maintenance and Repair ofhigh-pressuresteam,naturalpiping,and gas meters.

  • Assure employees are working safely on the job, makes corrections, whennecessary,performs toolbox talks and pursues guidance from the Safety Manager when necessary.

  • Accomplishes workin accordance withauthorized Work Orders for Service Orders, PreventiveMaintenance, Specific Work Orders and Standing Operating Orders.Complies withwork schedules and contract requirements for response and performance. Completes Work Order feedbackin accordance withestablished procedures.

  • Monitors and inspects work in progress and reviews completed work to ensure accomplishmentin most effective and efficient manner. Interfaceswith other Departments, customers and Government Representatives asrequiredto achieve maximum productivity and reduction of lost time. Monitors work to ensure control of cost, including minimization of overtime/lost timeand effective use of tools, equipment, and materials; scope, including the documentation of changes to support job amendments; and quality of work performed.

  • Seeksto constantly improve service to the customer at reduce cost. Makes suggestions related to use of improved procedures, methods, technology, tools andequipment, and resources to achieve improved productivity and quality.

  • Controls tools, equipment, materials, and vehicles to ensure inventory control, effectiveutilization, cleanliness, and cost effectiveness. Turns in excess, damaged, or unserviceable itemsin accordance withcurrent procedures.

  • Ensures employee compliance with security, property and material management and other applicable company and Army regulations and procedures.

  • Assures departments are accurately coding and tracking time on work documents and timesheets.

  • Track and report mandated training and assures compliance.

  • Communicating with other departments to ensure smooth operation and to resolve any boiler-relatedissues.

  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in boiler operations.

  • Other duties as assigned by Program Management.

  • Accountable For :

  • The safe maintenance and operation of the Redstone Arsenal steam and boiler systemsused to provide heating and hot water for different applications,ensuring boilers and associated hot water loops are chemically treated, all ADEM requirements are performed and properly documented.Maintaining the Sparkman Complex by coordinating all maintenance craft to minimize customerdisruption and perform all maintenance actionsin a timely manner.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma.

  • Must have at least5years’experienceinmaintenance and repair ofboiler or steamsystems.

  • Mustpossessa valid driver’s license andmaintaina good drivingrecord.

  • Strong technical skills and in-depth knowledge of boiler,steamand natural gas distributionsystems, safety standards, and maintenance procedures.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills to manage teams andmaintaineffective operations.

  • Ability wo work in physically demanding conditions, problem-solvingskills, and knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.

  • Good oral and written communication skills in the English language.

  • Possess computer skills that include the ability to us applications in Microsoft Office.

  • Must be able toobtain/maintaina Secret Clearance.
