GE Vernova SCADA System Specialist in Remote, Arizona

Job Description Summary

Responsible for the conception, design, build and delivery of SCADA and secure networking solutions for industrial and electrical utility customers. Own the project control activity globally and drive consistent functional specifications and common global processes for projects implementation. Activities that are conducted to better understand or ultimately meet the expectations of the customer Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.

The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the technical leader/manager to develop a scope of work and plan schedule and monitor engineering activities for customer projects.

  • Create architecture and design documentation for data acquisition and control solutions as part of GE Grid Automation solutions business. Work collaboratively with customer and peers to create holistic solutions to meet customer business objectives.

  • Utilize cyber security secure products and methods to ensure protection of critical customer infrastructure. Employ industry standard communications methods such as: IEC61850, DNP3, Modbus ethernet interfaces to numerous GE and third party devices.

  • Configuration and factory acceptance testing of multiple electronic devices, gateways, network switches, firewalls and routers to create solutions.

  • Support customer installation of equipment including site acceptance testing and commissioning at industrial or electrical utility customer facilities.

  • Provide technical leadership and interface with Proposal Management, Cost Estimating, Partners, Customers, GE Product Engineering, Sourcing, Engineering sub-contractors. Includes technical direction and coaching of other engineers. Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute policy/strategy.

  • Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market

  • Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.

  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

  • May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements.

  • Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (OR a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 6 years of experience)

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the Engineering/Technology & Customer Project Engineering

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.

  • P. Eng. accreditation is an asset
