Shire Regional Market Access Manager - NORTH Italy in Remote, Italy
This role will cover the North of Italy.
Establish and maintain professional, productive relationships with external market access stakeholders and policymakers to ensure access and adoption of Shire products at regional/local level.
Identify opportunities to partner with external stakeholders and decision makers at regional and local level that lead to recognition of the value of Shire products.
Provide single point of contact for all regional market access aspects between the business units
Leverage deep understanding of the regional market access requirements, the evolving environment and future trends to ensure that the market access regional needs are adequately reflected in the country strategies and plans
Via continuous monitoring of PR&A developments in the regions of competence, alert country, BU, brand teams to healthcare system developments, competitor activity or other events that would have the potential to impact market access for Shire’s portfolio.
Formulary Inclusion, Reference Centers
Ensure inclusion of Shire products into Regional/Local formularies, interacting with all key stakeholders to create awareness about Shire products and present/communicate HTA/value proposition arguments
Work in teams with other Shire functions to coordinate/finalise preparation of documents required for regional/local submissions
Monitor the identification of Regional Reference Centres to enable prescription
Monitor issuance, implementation, revision of Regional/local regulations and budgets, and evaluate/communicate/counteract potential impact on Shire products
PDTA, Patient Access
Interact with key stakeholders (clinicians, decision makers, working groups/commissions) to support the implementation/update of PDTA involving Shire products, and monitor relevant developments
Support the implementation of Patient Support programs, Disease awareness and patient finding initiatives at regional level
In partnership with the BUs and the Tender Management Group, provide support as required to ensure accreditation of Shire in the regional/AV platforms, and the inclusion of Shire products into Regional and AV Tender.
In partnership with the Franchises, monitor regional drug distribution models to ensure, where applicable, inclusion of Shire products into DPC lists and/or direct distribution list, to allow appropriate patient access
Develop partnerships with regional political/institutional/technical stakeholders/decision makers (Departments of Health, General Managers/Health Managers, Regional Commissions), providing a reliable source of information and knowledge useful for making responsible choices in health policy, and supporting the definition and implementation of projects/health care services
Develop partnerships with relevant payer scientific societies (such as SIFO, SIF, SIHTA, ANMDO, FIASO) to build awareness about specificity of rare diseases & orphan drugs and support disease awareness, patient finding, patient support initiatives
Monitor Policy Developments
- Implement a process for the collection and dissemination of information, data, insight and intelligence on specific regional market access requirements, to ensure timely and effective availability of key information and Shire-relevant developments
Education & Experience Requirements
Degree in Life Science, Business Management or related field
Minimum of 7 years’ hands-on experience in market access within the biopharmaceuticals industry (part of experience may include time in relevant consulting, HTA agency and/or direct payer experience)
Strong technical understanding of market access issues, with hands-on experience in country, and demonstrable track record
or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Prior experience in market access within rare diseases
Higher level degree/MBA, MPA, MPH and/or post graduate education in healthcare administration or health economics

Head of Access & External Affairs - Team reports into the Access & External Affairs function
Franchise team – Role interacts strongly with all levels of the Franchise, particularly with the field teams, in designing and implementing commercial strategies for continued access to Shire products
Tender Management Group – Role collaborates with the Tender Manager in supporting actions to ensure coverage/participation of Shire products to tenders
External contacts – Regional/locals payers, HTA agencies, national/regional associations of payers/policymakers, external agencies/providers.
Availability for very frequent domestic travel
