About the Team

The People Data group is comprised of talented individuals that build and support some of our most critical platform services. As part of the company’s API and event-driven architecture, the HR Platform team is constantly evolving our core data offerings by taking advantage of the latest tools and technologies for building an efficient, scalable architecture.

At Paylocity, people are at the center of everything we build. The People Data APIs are part of the foundation on which all of our Products are built. These APIs regularly serve more than 100 million requests a day to support the entire Paylocity customer base. This team shoulders the responsibility of ensuring that customer data is always secure and yet readily available. They are routinely asked to find creative solutions to unique challenges around data governance and product scale. Their work helps to accelerate development across the entire product org.

As a Staff Software Engineer on the HR Platform team, you will be part of a driven, agile group of developers that are designing and building the future of our product architecture. You will work collaboratively with other product teams to find the best solution for a variety of engineering challenges. You will be a thought-leader for our approach around API and eventing platforms. You will leverage your experience to identify the right tools and standards for future development. And you will work with a dynamic team of individuals as a mentor and collaborator to push the technology org forward.

What you will do

· Establish team alignment for best practices and a healthy balance of tech debt versus delivery

· Play a key role in mediating team level technical disagreements driving toward a unified decision

· Actively mentor and coach all members of the team

· Design software with multiple components interacting across systems

· Provide feedback on team designs by asking probing, insightful questions that solidify choices

· Solicit and provide feedback via decision-making frameworks for proposed changes from across the organization

· Push the team to continuously improve their knowledge, technical skill, and velocity

· Own the overall health and engineering quality for a team by ensuring appropriate testing, monitoring, observability, and accountability is in place

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree or 5+ years' experience

  • Fluency in C# .NET

  • Proficiency in developing scalable architecture solutions

  • Must be adaptable to change and have a willingness to learn

  • Must have a strong sense of curiosity

  • Must commit to their role and take responsibility for their tasks

  • Must be able to work effectively in an agile and team environment

  • Must be effective and creative in problem solving

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with AWS technologies and deployment pipelines

  • Experience with React-based frontend development

  • A history of working on large-scale SaaS architecture

  • A proven track record of successfully breaking down monolithic architecture with incremental upgrades

This role can be performed from any office in the US. The pay range for this position is $92,936 - $201,701/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual restricted stock unit grant based on individual performance in addition to a full range of benefits outlined here.
