Job Description Summary

We are specialized in the design, production and maintenance of components and systems for engine and mechanical transmissions applied to both civil and military aviation (i.e., accessory drivetrains, engine thermal management, turboprop & helicopter reduction gearboxes, etc.).
The Gears And Shafts Lead Design Engineer‘s prime responsibility will be to perform design activities related to gears of aeronautical mechanical power transmissions for future applications and lead hardware procurement for technology demonstrators (flight demos included).
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
The Gears and Shafts Lead design engineer utilizes expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and has the ability to affect short-term and some long-term business goals.
In addition you will:
Build and strengthen technical knowledge expertise on gears and shafts for aeronautical power gearboxes
Execute technical feasibility studies and concept design of mechanical transmission components, with a focus on gears design, for next engine opportunities (Next Gen Narrow Body, Hybrid Electric platforms)
Design sub-system and components identifying alternatives, agreeing upon design CTQs, scoring and down-selecting optimal solution to achieve product performance/cost/weight
Capture system requirements, flow-down to components definition identifying relevant validation needs
Execute detailed design of GBX components for test vehicles and technology maturation needs
Proactively support activities with other departments and suppliers (concurrence design)
Issue the technical documents relative to the components design according to engineering policies and procedures (presentations as well as analysis reports)
Contribute to and participate as a presenter in technical and program reviews
Support source technological substantiation and non-conformances assessments (MRB)
Support activities related to development findings, components performance and investigations (test requests, test data postprocess, laboratories investigation)
Use of design tools: CAD as Unigraphics NX, and CAE as Nastran, Ansys and in-house S/Ws. Transmission 3D for gears micro-geometry design.
Qualifications/Requirements
Master's Degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited university
Good knowledge of fundamental mechanical design concepts, mechanics of materials, design hand calculations
Proven experience on supply chain processes and HW procurement
Strong engineering outlook, hands-on engineering foundation and eager to learn
Clear thinking and diligent approach
English and Italian language fluent knowledge, both written and oral
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Work Visa in accordance with local regulation is required
