Responsibilities

Charter House's mission is to provide the best care through practice, education, and research. The Infection Preventionist/Quality Assurance (IP/QA) nurse is responsible for collaboration with nursing leadership to develop and implement all aspects of the Infection Prevention and Control, antibiotic stewardship program, and quality assurance monitoring and activities. The IP/QA nurse will function as a leader, educator, and consultant to the Quality Improvement program. Coordinates QAPI/QA monthly meetings. The American Nurses Association (ANA) Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) provide the basis for practice.

Qualifications

Graduate of a baccalaureate Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited nursing program. If graduated from a nursing program that was not accredited by ACEN or CCNE, at least one year of RN experience (within the last five years) in an applicable care setting is required.

Additional Qualifications

Minimum of three years clinical experience in healthcare preferred. Experience with infection prevention and quality assurance preferred. CIC, certification in infection prevention and control and health etiology preferred. The IP/QA nurse must be able to work independently. Strong problem solving skills are necessary with the ability to collect, analyze and prioritize information to be used in the development and implementation of infection prevention and quality improvement programs. Ability to develop effective working relationships throughout the organization. Demonstrated computer literacy with strong knowledge of software applications. Experience in training or teaching others. Strong project leadership, organizational and planning skills. Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral). Works flexible hours, which primarily are days, but may require an occasional evening, night, or weekend.

Licensure

MN Registered Nurse license; Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification (must come from one of the following providers: American Heart Association, Red Cross, or Military Training Network).
