Job Title: Systems Engineer (Mechanical)Job Description
We have an immediate need for a Systems Engineer to support the U.S. Navy's Strategic Systems Program (SSP) Office and the Trident II D5 Strategic Weapon System (SWS) program. The successful candidate will assist with the Navy’s development of an updated version of the Trident Missile to support the Columbia submarine deployment.
Responsibilities
Serve as a technical lead for a team of approximately 40 personnel.
Learn technical content quickly and assist technical lead in approving changes.
Utilize CAMEO system modeler, SysML, Requirements in Doors, and PLM: Windchill for routing changes.
Perform change management evaluations, issue changes to impacted community, adjudicate comments, and work with the government for final sign-off.
Train staff, sign off on technical changes, and communicate during meetings to identify technical impacts.
Manage Interface Requirement Documents (ICDs) for Fire Control and Navigation groups, ensuring alignment between these groups.
Support subsystem meetings to evaluate impact and maintain alignment.
Essential Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering preferred or equivalent education and years of related experience.
Understanding of Systems Engineering principles and basic engineering principles.
Experience with Interface Control/Design Drawings.
Understanding of requirements allocation and system architecture management.
Experience with DoD weapons systems.
Demonstrated self-starter with excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with others.
Excellent organizational, planning, and follow-up skills.
Experience preparing for and leading design reviews or customer meetings.
Proficiency with PC and MS Office Suite.
Experience with engineering tools/languages such as CREO, PTC Windchill, IBM DOORS, SysML, and requirement management tools.
Experience with Model Based Engineering.
Ability to establish a strong, positive customer relationship.
Ability to coach and mentor employees.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
In-depth experience with modeling tools.
Experience with engineering tools/languages including CREO, PTC Windchill, IBM DOORS, SysML, and Cameo Systems Modeler.
Detailed understanding of engineering principles and Interface Control/Design Drawings.
Experience within the U.S. Navy’s Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) and the TRIDENT II D5 Strategic Weapon System (SWS).
Work Environment
This role follows a hybrid work model, combining remote and on-site work in a 3-2-1 schedule.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $95.00/hr.
