**About New Mexico Military Institute: NMMI is a state-supported, co-educational college preparatory high school and junior college, complete with Junior and Senior ROTC programs. With a Corps of Cadets numbering up to 1000 young men and women, NMMI provides an accredited college preparatory curriculum on the high school level and is currently developing a new middle school.

Position: Under the general supervision of the Human Resources Director, the Human Resources Specialist, is responsible for administrative duties, as well as overseeing, managing, and administering NMMI employees' benefits and compensation, including the state retirement system, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, etc., Flex spending plan, and other benefits, i.e., COBRA, FMLA coverage. The Human Resources Specialist will assist the Human Resources Director in working toward all NMMI Human Resources/ Title IX strategic initiatives.]{lang="EN"}**

Tasks:

  • Responsible for in-processing and out-processing faculty and staff; Performs various tasks related to the employee life cycle.
  • Responsible for ensuring that HR Specialist practices comply with current laws and regulations, including FMLA, insurance benefits, retirement benefits, leave time, sick leave bank, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills:

  • Ability to learn and perform all aspects of the NMMI Human Resources Department.
  • Ability to learn all principle practices and procedures pertaining to employee benefits procedure / HR processes.
  • Ability to effectively resolve employee benefit problems, issues, and concerns.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service in Human Resources.

Qualifications: *Required:*

  • Associates Degree in Human Resources / Business Administration or three years equivalent Human Resources experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be detail- oriented.
  • Must possess the ability to work with a culturally diverse group of staff and faculty and the ability to work collaboratively with other administrators, faculty, and staff to advance the goals of the mission of the Institute.

Preferred:

Bachelors degree in Human Resources or Business Administration or a similar field.
