Job Purpose and Impact

The Maintenance & Reliability Engineer defines and coordinates maintenance of plant facilities and equipment according to established guidelines. In this multifaceted position, one day you are engaged in internal consultation on when best to inspect the tank and the next day you are in the plant maintaining and improving equipment. You will be responsible for performing maintenance activities and improvement projects to achieve established results. You will use your own knowledge and the knowledge that already exists in the plant, in the field of maintenance and reliability in the coordination and completion of tasks.

The vegetable oil refinery in Rotterdam Botlek is one of the largest and most complex sites within Cargill (production: +/- 700,000 tons per year) consisting of 5 refining lines, 3 fractionation units, 3 hydrogenation units, a blending section, a tank storage (+ /- 170 tanks), 4 truck loading stations, 1 truck unloading station, a jetty for loading and unloading seagoing vessels and coasters, and the necessary utilities and infrastructure.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support operations by identifying and assessing outages, downtime and lost production and collaborating with more colleagues to identify opportunities to improve reliability and/or determine acceptable risk tolerance for assets.

  • Perform complex analysis, quality testing and inspections requiring a high level of independent judgment.

  • Contribute to planning and work coordination for ongoing maintenance and/or reliability related projects.

  • Work with production personnel to coordinate repair work, safety inspections, and new plant equipment maintenance schedules.

  • Analyze equipment malfunctions and perform preventive maintenance inspections.

  • Resolve moderately complex problems independently with minimal supervision, while more complex problems are escalated to appropriate personnel.

  • Initiate and lead equipment replacement projects and support major capital projects (> EUR 1,000,000.00) to ensure reliability.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of two years of related work experience

  • Language: fluent Dutch (speaking, reading and writing), good level English (speaking, reading, writing)

  • Other minimum qualifications may apply

Preferred Qualifications

  • Solid knowledge in the application of reliability tools

  • Knowledge in maintenance process management

  • Project management experience

  • Experience with Maintenance Management Systems (e.g. SAP, Maximo)
