Job Summary and Qualifications

The Director of Magnet Program functions in the role of clinical leader to promote, develop, and assist with fostering innovation and excellence in nursing practice throughout the organization. Responsibilities will include oversight and coordination of the Magnet Program, assuring that Magnet is hardwired into the organization through coordination, education, and consultation with leadership. Magnet responsibilities will include oversight of all deliverables and deadlines including document preparation and submission, site visits, interim reports, NDNQI database management and analysis, and RN engagement survey. The Director will collaborate with leadership to embed the professional practice model into clinical practice, foster, maintain shared governance and council structure, and mentor clinical staff in leadership skills at the unit and council levels. The Director is responsible for advancing nursing practice and innovation through shared governance, practice councils and nursing projects that foster innovation and excellence as well as the formal recognition of nursing innovation and excellence. Responsibilities include developing structure and processes that foster innovation of clinical staff and oversight of programs that produce clinical nursing innovation and excellence. In collaboration with clinical and administrative leadership, the Director assumes system-wide responsibility for coordinating all aspects of special projects for the nursing department and ensures that assigned projects are deployed and hardwired into all areas of the organization. The Director is responsible for providing education that is consistent with policies, procedures and standards of practice as it relates to new processes implementation.

  • You will take lead in implementing strategies to improve organizational performance.

  • You will create and implement innovative ways to transform organizational culture, systems and services.

  • You will work closely with leadership and staff to promote a culture of Evidence Based Practice, innovation and excellence.

  • You will serve as liaison between leadership, outside certifying organizations, staff, physicians, and the community.

  • You will serve as overall project manager with appropriate delegation skills.

  • You will develop timelines and implementation plans to meet goals.

  • You will manage change-management with department directors/clinical managers and facilitate effective change.

  • You will design PI processes specific to systems and maintains oversight of the collecting and analyzing of PI data as it relates to NDNQI data.

  • You will design and produce reports as required.

  • You will work on organizational initiatives focusing on quality clinical outcomes.

  • You will participate in hospital or departmental performance improvement activities.

  • You will work effectively with other departments in carrying out duties.

  • You will have current knowledge of applicable Policies and Procedures is evident in performance.

  • You will consistently seek opportunities to improve department or interdepartmental processes, which would result in more efficient or effective services. Collaborate with other departments as necessary.

  • You will participate in interdepartmental activities committees as requested in order to improve activities or patient care.

What qualifications you will need:

  • 5 years nursing experience required with experience developing, implementing, and evaluating new programs/processes.

  • Prior management or project management experience is required.

  • Previous experience in Magnet accredited organization or experience in Magnet accreditation process highly desirable.

  • Experience in research translation process and evidence based nursing practice.

  • BSN minimum

  • Required: Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation. FT/PT/PRN colleagues with a compact license from a state other than Texas must: • apply for Texas RN license within 60 days from hire • obtain current TX RN license within 6 months of application for TX RN license

  • Current BLS for Healthcare Providers with American Heart Association or American Red Cross
