Summary
This role may perform lead worker responsibilities in regard to maintenance shop and equipment which includes maintenance scheduling, parts purchasing, maintenance recordkeeping, co-worker training, shop area management, metal fabrication and specific mechanical skills. Reports and makes operational recommendations to Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Attends training sessions and safety meetings. May assist in safety meetings on shop related issues, responds to special projects and provides back-up when needed.
Performs varied responsibilities such as general equipment maintenance, welding and equipment fabrication stainless steel pipe fitting, engine overhauls (Cummins, Cat, gas engines, etc.), repairs to any rolling stock in fleet (gas or diesel) and maintenance and repairs to all applicators.
Assists, trains and oversees co-workers helping with shop tasks and assignments. Purchases all shop supplies and parts to assure best price and availability.
Keeps maintenance records on all trucks and trailers so we are in compliance with DOT regulations. Responsible for housekeeping of shop area and also must respond to emergency breakdowns away from the Unit.
Typical Education
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Relevant Experience
3+ years related experience and/or training
Required Certifications
Preferred Certified Diesel Mechanic
