Corewell Health Clinical Quality Safety Program Director in Royal Oak, Michigan

About the Unit

This Department drives Quality, Safety, and Experience (QSE) initiatives for their local hospitals set forth by regional and systemwide QSE initiative and goals. This department works with Executive teams, clinical teams, Directors, Managers, and Medical staff to analyze data and outcomes in order to drive quality improvement work that is aligned with our QSE goals. The QSE department implements and operationalizes best practices and quality improvement methodology to achieve desired Quality and Safety Outcomes. H ybrid with 3 days/week on site minimum. Travel to facilities in Metro Detroit is REQUIRED.

Scope of work

Drives the Quality, Safety, and Experience (QSE) program for their assigned hospital(s) and/or other service area(s). Working with key stakeholders such as the Executive Team, Directors, Medical Directors, and Medical Staff. This individual will understand Corewell Health system-level and local goals, and to co-develop the roadmap of work necessary to achieve them. Works with other QSE leadership to adhere to best practice in implementing and operationalizing evidence-based practice and improvement methodology that is in alignment with System QSE.

  • Provides guidance and feedback to improvement teams and leaders on skill development and team effectiveness. Actively participates and contributes to System-wide training courses on quality, safety, and experience.

  • Creating, maintaining, communicating, and executing program goals, strategy, and roadmap. Liaisons with executive team within the regional location. Ability to evaluate performance of location in the context of the overall Corewell Health performance in QSE. Can bring insights and best practice to advance the performance of the regional location.

  • Maintain effective business partnerships to ensure goals and understood and work is prioritized appropriately to achieve those goals. Use of data and influence to highlight strengths and success as well as opportunities for improved performance. Ability to coach towards excellence and overcome barriers to achieve outcomes.

  • Coordinates and integrates work of improvement teams members throughout their hospital or other designated area while maintaining a visible leadership presence locally and within the corporate team, as appropriate. Connects with regional and system functional leadership to stays abreast of new developments in healthcare quality, safety, and experience and provides updates and reference material to the Spectrum Health Quality Committees including board subcommittees as required.

  • Participates with system staff to implement clinical outcome measures for quality improvement, patient and staff safety, patient/family experience, cost and complication reduction, benchmarking, and the implementation of evidence-based medicine.

Qualifications

  • Required Bachelor's Degree in healthcare administration, business administration, nursing or related field

  • Preferred Master's Degree MPH, MBA or other related area

  • 7 years of experience in related Healthcare, Performance management, quality improvement, patient safety, patient experience and outcome reporting Required

  • 5 years of experience in demonstrated progressively more responsible leadership experience.

  • Creating, communicating, and executing on vision, strategy, and roadmaps, building relationships with diverse stakeholders, and leading and influencing cross-functional teams in creating successful initiatives, without formal authority. Required

  • Experience in working with nursing leaders and physicians from diverse backgrounds and perspectives in acute, ambulatory, chronic, and preventive care environments. Required

  • Experience in hospitals in a community hospital private practice environment. Required

  • Clinical related experience. Preferred

  • Registered Nurse (RN) - State of Michigan preferred
