Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The incumbent prepares instruments and equipment for sterilization in all surgical services areas. This includes decontamination assembly and packaging in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. The incumbent coordinates instrument repair and maintenance with a contracted vendor maintains instrument trays by recommending replacement purchases to their supervisor. The incumbent operates and performs routine maintenance on the sterilizers such as cleaning paper roll and graph replacement and performs and documents biologic and chemical monitoring procedures. The incumbent maintains the decontamination and assembly areas in good order and performs other duties as directed which may include but not limited to assisting with patient care room cleaning answering phones and transporting patients.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 6 months (1040 hours) experience of Sterile Processing in an Operating Room environment or equivalent sterile processing training.

  • Completion of Certified Sterile Processing Program

  • Successful completion of job specific competency assessment.

  • Proficient computer skills demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written. Demonstrated knowledge of surgical instruments and the appropriate cleaning and decontamination processes and proper safety practices including infection control body mechanics and hazardous materials and medical terminology.

  • BLS provided by the American Heart Association

Pay Range

$30.53 - $33.36 /hour
