Red River Senior Software Engineer (Database Administrator) in Sacramento, California

The Senior Software Engineer/Database Administrator shall possess knowledge and experience in applications software development principles and methods sufficient to participate in the design, development, testing and implementation of new or modified applications software; operating systems installation and configuration procedures; organization’s operational environment; software design principles, methods and approaches; principles, methods and procedures for designing, developing, optimizing and integrating new and/or reusable systems components; pertinent government regulations; infrastructure requirements, such as bandwidth and server sizing; database management principles and methodologies, including data structures, data modeling, data warehousing and transaction processing; functionality and operability of the current operating environment; systems engineering concepts and factors such as structured design, supportability, survivability, reliability, scalability and maintainability; optimization concepts and methods; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work; and speak and write effectively and prepare effective reports.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and/work on Solution design, documentation, development, modification, testing, installation, implementation and support of the Solution.

  2. Plan, install, configure, test, implement and manage the systems environment in support of architecture and business needs.

  3. Analyze and refine system requirements;

  4. Translate systems requirements into solution prototypes;

  5. Plan and design system architecture;

  6. Write, debug maintain code(s);

  7. Determine and design applications architecture;

  8. Determine output media/formats;

  9. Design user interfaces;

  10. Work with customers to test solution;

  11. Assure solution and systems quality and functionality;

  12. Integrate hardware and software components;

  13. Write and maintain program documentation;

  14. Ensure rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles and practices to the delivery of the solution.

  15. Analyze systems requirements in response to business requirements, risks and costs;

  16. Evaluate, select, verify and validate systems environment;

  17. Evaluate, select and install compilers, assemblers and utilities (as needed);

  18. Integrate hardware and software components within the systems environment;

  19. Monitor and fine-tune performance of the systems environment;

  20. Evaluate new systems engineering technologies and their effect on the operating environment;

  21. Ensure that information security/information assurance policies, principles and practices are an integral element of the operating environment.

Required Experience and Education

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in electronic data processing systems study, design, and programming. At least four (4) years of that experience must have been in a lead capacity.

  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related or Engineering field. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
