Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Dietary, assesses
nutrition status, designs, implements, monitors, and documents
nutritional support; provides nutrition education as necessary for
patients and referrals. Approves the regular and therapeutic diets so
that food and nutritional needs of the patients are met in accordance
with the physicians orders and, to the extent medically possible, meet
the dietary allowances of the Food and Nutrition Board of the National
Academy of Sciences, National Research Center. Serves as a nutrition
resource professional for the community. Also serves as the Diabetes
Education Coordinator and plays a role in reducing the risk of diabetes
in Graham/Greenlee County, including planning, implementation, and
evaluation of the DSME program.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Proof of highest level of education completed but not less than high
school education or equivalent as recognized by an approved
government accreditation association.
- Bachelors degree from a U.S regionally accredited college or
university or foreign equivalent
- Completion of a Didactic program in dietetics accredited by the
Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics
(ACEND).
- Completion of registration examination administered by the
Commissions on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
- 75 units of continuing education every 5 years to maintain current
registration status with the CDR.
- A minimum of 15 hours continuing education required annually to
oversee the DSME program.
- Must have at least two years previous diabetes education experience;
Certified Diabetes Educator or CDE
- Two to three years experience working around community health and/or
health care.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks/programs simultaneously.
- Familiarity with grant management and grant writing.
- Experience in working with the public.
- Ability to conduct public meetings, groups, and presentations.
- An understanding of computer systems, process design and data
management.
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
- Required to have a well-groomed, professional appearance.
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, reach, kneel and stretch
using good body mechanics for sustained periods of time required.
- Required to have the mental and physical ability to perform the
essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable
accommodation.
- Language proficiency in English, with excellent written and verbal
fluency.
- An understanding of computer systems, process design and data
management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous Meditech experience or other related electronic records
systems.
